Little bit of a longer post (hopefully not too long) from Brother Joseph Helms

First thing is don’t forget about our 5th weekend meeting this weekend. Elder David Cothren from Angier Primitive Baptist Church in Angier, NC will be our guest speaker (guest preacher). We will meet starting this Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 3pm with services followed by barbecue and hotdog dinner provided by church, and Sunday at 10:30 am with barbecue and hotdog dinner provided by church.

Next thing that isn’t church business, but that I think is relevant to post is just a thank you to the town of Peachland, NC where Lawyer Springs Primitive Baptist Church is located. This is a video of the Peachland Memorial Day Flag Raising. So thankful that Peachland, North Carolina where my Granddad Elder Joe Helms lived for many years (and he was blessed to pastor Lawyer Springs Primitive Baptist Church for ~60 years) celebrates veterans on Memorial Day! Also, while our church honors no man except Jesus Christ when He was a man, if you drive past Lawyer Springs you will see a banner up on a light pole with my Granddad Elder Joe Helms’s much younger picture in his military uniform with his name on it. Though my Granddad served much longer in our Lord’s Army than the United States Army we really appreciate the town of Peachland, NC hanging these banners for veterans who called Peachland home (their “Home Town Heroes”) on light poles throughout the town. God bless Peachland for that! God bless you all! And please be in prayer for our 5th weekend meeting. 🇺🇸🙏

Letter regarding the 5th weekend meeting in May being hosted by Lawyer Springs Primitive Baptist Church:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The Lord willing, Lawyer Springs Primitive Baptist Church will host the Bear Creek Association 5th‑weekend meeting in May. Elder David Cothren, pastor of Angier Primitive Baptist Church, has graciously agreed to be with us for this meeting.

Services will begin on Friday evening, May 29th, at 7:00 p.m. They will resume on Saturday afternoon, May 30th, at 3:00 p.m., followed by a barbecue and hot‑dog supper. Services will continue on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m., with a barbecue and hot‑dog lunch to follow.

We cordially invite you and sincerely request your presence. We deeply need and cherish the fellowship of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Elder Travis Brown from Texas plans to be with Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Marshville, NC (our sister church) at 10:30 am tomorrow on Sunday. It's a treat to hear him so I definitely recommend going to hear him preach. 🙏❤️

From Brother Joseph Helms: Shared from my Sister in Christ and cousin on my Mom’s side Sister Carolyn Broadway about her husband Deacon Brother Maurice Broadway. I am so thankful to God that Brother Maurice is doing better than a week ago. I made the comment on her post I think of Brother Maurice as a Great Uncle of mine- as I said, I’m related to Sister Carolyn and me and Brother Maurice have just always had a great relationship. Love Sister Carolyn and Brother Maurice and their family, and our good Sister Church Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church. They really appreciated the card from Lawyer Springs Primitive Baptist Church (my home church where I am a member). Continued prayers specifically for Brother Maurice and Sister Carolyn daily. 🙏

Also, will go ahead and say Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Mothers in the church (I will mention a few)- Sister Carolyn Broadway, my Mom Sister Robin Helms, Sister Janet Edwards, Sister Rita Freeman, Sister Sandy Carelock, Sister Hannah Carelock, Sister Jean Carelock, Sister Angelia Herrin, Sister Doris Baucom, Sister Ruth Winn, and Sister Jan Martin. And Happy Birthday (soon) to Sister Lauren Martin my Great Aunt Ruth’s Granddaughter and Sister Jan Martin’s daughter. 🙏

Tomorrow we will be meeting on Zoom and will not be meeting at the church building due to the current snow storm. Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church will be joining us on our Zoom meeting tomorrow. Elder James Carelock and Elder Richie Broadway will both be preaching.
