Today's Gospel reminds us that Jesus calls us to something that can be difficult: reconciliation. Instead of holding onto hurt or speaking about others behind their backs, He invites us to approach one another with truth, humility, and love.

And He promises that whenever we gather in His name, He is with us. 🙏💙"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." (Matthew 18:20)

Registration for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) has “more than doubled” on college campuses across the country as Catholic conversions continue to rise, according to recent data.
“On campuses of various sizes, all across the United States, Catholicism is on the rise,” Hallow reported in an Aug. 19 study that found that OCIA participation increased by 87.6% from the 2024-25 school year to 2025-26.

Schools with the largest number of OCIA participants include Texas A&M, Arizona State University, the University of Illinois, the University of Oklahoma, Kansas State University, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Nebraska, and Harvard University. Hallow said it obtained OCIA data from nearly 60 U.S. colleges and universities.
Texas A&M saw the largest number of OCIA participants, increasing to 204 candidates and catechumens in 2025-26 from 121 in 2024-25.
Hallow said campus conversion growth is outpacing diocesan trends, noting that university parishes and Newman Centers reported faster increases than dioceses, which saw a 38% rise in 2025‑26.

The Church dedicates this month to the Seven Sorrows of Mary, inviting us to reflect on Our Blessed Mother's steadfast faith and trust in God through suffering.

Consider praying the Seven Sorrows Rosary (Chaplet) this month as a way to draw closer to Jesus through Mary's compassionate heart. May she teach us to remain faithful and find hope in every trial.

1. FR MIKE – Welcome to Fr. Mike Peterson who will be celebrating our Mass today while Fr. Swamy is on Mission Sunday. Thank you for being here!
2. MEETING TODAY – A reminder that Fr. Swamy is requiring all current and prospective Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors to attend the meeting TODAY at 5pm at Holy Family Parish Hall. There will be a potluck-chicken dinner followed by a guest speaker.
3. K OF C – The Knights of Columbus WILL NOT have a breakfast next Sunday, Sept. 6, because of the Labor Day holiday weekend.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus reveals that the path to glory passes through the Cross. When Peter resists this difficult truth, Jesus reminds His disciples that following Him means self-denial, sacrifice, and trust in God’s plan.

May we have the courage to take up our cross each day and walk faithfully with the Lord.

American Martyr: The Stanley Rother Story will be in the AMC Manhattan theater this week! It is showing August 25-26 in English at 7:00 pm. Stanley Rother was an American Catholic priest from Oklahoma who was murdered during the Guatemalan Civil War in 1981. The film is a documentary of Rother's life.

The Archdiocese of Oklahoma City is presenting "American Martyr: The Stanley Rother Story," a documentary on the life and legacy of the first American-born priest recognized by the Catholic Church as a martyr. 🙏

It will play in theaters for three days: Aug. 25 and 26 in English (narrated by Martin Sheen) and Aug. 27 in Spanish (dubbed; narrated by Father Rafael Capo of the Archdiocese of Miami). 🎬

2. RETREAT – Please note that Fr. Swamy will be gone to Texas on retreat this week. Please pray for a safe trip and a fruitful retreat. There will be NO daily Masses, Monday through Friday. On Saturday, he will be here for 7am Adoration and Confessions, 8am Mass, and devotions to Mother Mary.
3. RELIGIOUS ED – Religious Ed classes will begin on Sept. 9. If you have NOT already registered your children, please do so as soon as possible! Renee Spellman needs an accurate count for classrooms so she can order the books.
