The great thing about God is you don't have to change your hair to purple, green or orange to be the "real" you.
You don't have to mark and peirce every inch of your skin to be the "real" you.
You don't have to change your style of clothing to be the "real" you.
You don't have to change your sexual orientation to be the "real" you.
You don't have to change your gender to be the "real" you.
It's all a lie from the enemy of God and your soul to mask the "real" you. In your mother's womb God skillfully created the REAL you. You can never improve on that!

I'm sick to my stomach at Christians arguing about what they can get by with and still be saved! Jesus laid it all down and said that if we wanted to be His we had to deny ourselves, take up a cross and follow Him.(Matt 16:24 Luke 16:23) There's nothing posh, convenient or self serving about it. It's not what we've begin to partake with that's the problem, it's the consequences to our actions that begins addictions and at the very least bad attitudes. If we can't sell out to the Lord now how on earth are we going to survive in days of trial and testing?

Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Personal Holiness - without it we can't see God.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Almost everyday I see a new post where a family member or friend is either battling Covid or has passed from complications. It's heart breaking. How on earth did we end up here?
Remember back shortly after 911 some of us would shake our heads at the fact that we did not fall to our knees as a nation and beg God to cleanse us from our sinful condition. We ask what was it going to take? Well here we are in the middle of a global catastrophe! Never has there been a world wide event like this since the flood! Children can't go to school, people are suffering or dying alone in hospitals. Business has to be transacted either online or with plexiglass between us or with masked faces. I know there may be many who disagree with me but I have discussed this with some who are older and wiser than me and they agree, God is angry with us! We've rioted over the last year for every offense we could think of. We've even fought over toilet paper. This nation is grievously, hatefully divided over the presidential election but where are the voices crying out to God for mercy? I believe every aspect of this election reveals that God is not moving things we want Him to because we are a sinful lot. We don't cry, scream, stomp and riot for the babies being murdered every minute of every day. We're wine drunk. And, before you tell me the Bible permits it tell me how's your prayer life going while you're drinking? Is God able to get a word of prophecy through to you after you've drank that glass to "relax"? It doesn't relax you, it numbs you and to what, the call of God?
Prescription medication addiction has found itself a place in the church. Christians fall under this demonic attack because it's "legal and medically necessary". I know people who are in terrible chronic pain that work really hard at finding an ease of pain by prayer first and then other means. I know others who have abused pills and have repented and God has done a mighty work in them. That's not all inclusive of what stands between us and God. You know a few things you could put on the list yourself.
I believe God has called us this year to cry out for Holiness to be restored to God's people. Folks we've got to fall down on our knees and beg God to save us from our wicked ways before we can begin to ask him to heal our land!

For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

We want God to hear our prayers?
We want what we want and because we stand under the banner of the name of Jesus then we think it has to happen our way. The Lord Jesus himself said there would be people He would have to send away, even though they thought they did great works in His name, because He flat out didn't know them. We call ourselves a Christian nation but sin runs rampant and unchecked. We don't have enough of the favor of God as a nation to stop a vicious virus and we'd rather believe the numbers are bogus than to face our lack of Spiritual Gifts as a nation. We don't have enough of the power of God to cast out the spirit of Homosexuality and find it easier to take on a tolerate attitude than to cleanse our vessel and ask for the Holy Ghost. It's running like wildfire. We don't know enough about the Love of God to plead the cause of salvation for the lost but instead spew hate with righteous indignation.
I'm guilty, I'm guilty, I'm guilty!
Until we repent, and we cannot and will not do that until we recognize our sinful condition, and turn from our wicked ways and that requires not a few changes in our life but to be intentionally and completely headed in the opposite direction, He will not heal our land.
That would mean He rewards our sinful nature and He closes His eyes at our destructive behaviors. God's law are not for His power over us they exist because of His love for us. Following after Him helps us with our relationships with others, helps us to do well and be content.
The Word calls us to be mutually Holy with God. There can be no relationship between Holy God and sinful man, that's the very reason Jesus took our sins to the cross.

What can we do?
1. Ask Holy Spirit to show us the areas of our life that needs cleansing. Just because we have asked and received forgiveness doesn't mean that we're done. We need to know how to be separated from the sinful life we lived and how to keep walking towards Him.
2. Revelation of our sins, faults and weakness is painful. Like dirty laundry we would rather not deal with but shove under the bed it is so easy to forget. But that dirty laundry will eventually begin to stink. And, so will our "hidden" stuff. It will show up in behaviors, attitudes and relationships. Our mental and physical health can even be affected. So, we might as well lay it out honestly before the Lord and let His Love cleanse us.
3. Make a new plan for your new life. Be intentional to never even get close to that old path. If you're honest you know how it all got started. Ask God to help you with warning signs that tell you're beginning to veer off the good path.
4. Make your relationship with God intentionally close. Talk with Him the first thing in your day. Listen for His voice in your day. Read His Word. It's the best way to get to know Him. Tell Him all you are grateful for at the end of your day. Then start it all over again.
5. Recruit help. Find a good Bible teaching church or study group. We're not in this alone. Others have walked down the same path. Listen for words of wisdom. Find someone to whom you can be accountable. It helps pull us back to the right focus.
6. And finally TRUST him. If the enemy will use any tool it will be the same tool he used on Adam and Eve. He caused Eve to doubt what God said and so went the story. The old song said, "Trust and never doubt".

And then if we fall down the word promises us we can start all over again, until the day we breath our last. Who knows when that will be and how many blessings we might miss!

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord , and depart from evil.

Ask a preacher…

A friend asks how we can live in peace in such troubled times and know the difference between what is right and wrong? There are so many issues and so many fighting between the issues, how can we be sure? Can we know to be prepared and how to prepare?

Very good question or rather questions. There are so many different voices right now that are screaming they are right and everyone else is wrong. If we've ever needed to hear the voice of God it is now.

I really think that is the answer to our questions. We need to be positioned to hear the voice of God. The Word teaches us that God really wants to talk with us as we walk with him. Remember the story about how Adam and God walked and talked together? That was God's desire from the beginning. It was sin that broke that relationship apart. But even after Adam and Eve sinned God still allowed humans to communicate with him but it came at a price, the shedding of blood as sacrifice. The first time we see this is with the story of the first sons and their offerings to God.
As history moves on the Word is full of stories of God directing, warning, encouraging and commanding his people. The story of Joseph and how God had strategically placed him in the right place (that surely looked like the wrong place) at the right time and gave him the right information he would use to save two nations, Egypt and Israel. We know God wants to talk to us!
The thing we have to realize is that in order to hear from God we must be linked up to him. Joseph was hearing from God long before the days of famine. Sometimes I wonder how frustrated God must get trying to get a message to Angela. Do I have noise from so many useless sources going on that I can't hear. It's like telling our child that we can't hear them because the TV is too loud. The only remedy to that is turning the volume down or better yet off! Maybe if we pulled away from the other noises in our life we could better hear from Father God. I remember a season I was going through that I really needed to hear a word from the Lord. I was aware that God was instructing me to stop all my communication with other people that was not absolutely necessary. If you know me that was rough! But, God had to shut me up and quiet my spirit in order to clearly hear his will.
One of the areas of communication skills the Lord has had me focus on is being alert. I may not get the message from God I needed to get if I'm asleep. There are so many times that the Bible instructs us to be awake and alert. In fact in many cases the word gregoreo is used interchangeably for being awake and being alert. I'm afraid in these last days we've been lulled into a state of sleep and therefore are not alert to hear a word from the Lord. We've got our noses buried in the TV and the telephones. We're a generation of people who have self medicated with opioids and wine plus all of the illegal mind altering drugs. I'm wondering how much we can hear from God when we've purposely numbed the brain? We're so relaxed I'm wondering if we'll know when we need to agonize in prayer. I'll move on.
So I guess my answer is get a word from the Lord. Let's let Him be our Peace. Let's let him be our guide. Let's let him be our source. He's promised he will never leave us, even to the end of the world!
