Данашња недеља у нашем храму протекла је у посебној радости, молитви и заједништву. Света Литургија окупила је велики број парохијана који су молитвено учествовали у богослужењу.

Поводом почетка нове школске године узнете су молитве за благослов свих ученика и студената, њихових учитеља и наставника, са жељом да им Господ подари здравље, мудрост, снагу и успех у новој школској години.

У данашњој беседи било је речи о верском образовању деце и важности њиховог присуства у храму. Поред знања које стичу у школама, наглашено је да је деци потребно пружити прилику да упознају своју веру, да расту уз Свету Литургију и да од малих ногу осете да је Црква њихов духовни дом. У томе посебну улогу имају родитељи, јер се вера не преноси само речима, већ пре свега личним примером.

Често се каже да су деца будућност Цркве. Данашње сабрање подсетило је на још једну, можда још важнију истину – Црква је будућност наше деце. Ако желимо да им вера буде ослонац када одрасту, потребно је да Црква буде део њиховог живота већ данас.

После Свете Литургије радост је настављена дружењем. Деца су била почашћена пицом, а потом су имала и свој први час у храму са протиницом Мирјаном и оцем Ђоканом. Тако је нова школска година започела онако како је најлепше – молитвом, учењем и радосним дружењем.

Нека Господ благослови сву нашу децу и њихове породице и подари им здравље, мудрост и снагу да расту у вери, знању и љубави. Нека им нова школска година буде срећна, успешна и благословена!

This Sunday, our church was filled with a prayer, joy, and fellowship as many parishioners gathered together for the Divine Liturgy.

With the new school year beginning, special prayers were offered for all our children and students, as well as for their teachers and educators. We prayed that the Lord would bless them with good health, wisdom, strength, and success throughout the year ahead.

Today’s sermon also reflected on the importance of raising children in the faith and encouraging their active participation in the life of the Church. While education and the knowledge they receive in school are important, children also need the opportunity to discover and grow in their faith, to experience the Divine Liturgy, and to know from an early age that the Church is their spiritual home. Parents have an especially important role in this journey, because faith is passed on not only through what we tell our children, but even more through the example we set for them.

We often say that children are the future of the Church. Today’s gathering reminded us of another beautiful and perhaps even more important truth: the Church is the future of our children. If we hope that faith will guide and strengthen them as they grow older, then the Church must have a place in their lives today.

Following the Divine Liturgy, the celebration continued with fellowship. The children enjoyed pizza together and then attended their first class at the church with Presvytera Mirjana and Father Djokan. It was a beautiful way to begin the new school year—together in prayer, learning, friendship, and joy.

May the Lord bless all our children and their families, granting them health, wisdom, and strength as they continue to grow in faith, knowledge, and love. May the new school year be filled with happiness, success, and God’s blessings!

И ове недеље сабрали смо се на Светој Литургији, у молитви и заједништву, слушајући речи Светог Јеванђеља и причу о злим виноградарима.

Господ нам говори о домаћину који је засадио и уредио виноград, а затим га поверио виноградарима. Када је дошло време плодова, послао је своје слуге, али их виноградари нису примили – једне су тукли, друге каменовали и убијали. На крају је послао свога Сина, али су и Њега одбацили и убили.

Домаћин винограда јесте Бог, виноград представља изабрани народ Божији – Израиљ, а виноградари духовне вође којима је била поверена брига о народу. Христове речи биле су упућене тадашњим првосвештеницима и фарисејима, који су разумели да Господ говори о њима. Слуге представљају пророке, а Син и Наследник јесте сам Господ Исус Христос.

У својој беседи, отац Ђокан подсетио нас је да ова јеванђелска прича говори и свакоме од нас. Све што имамо – живот, породицу, ближње, веру, време и дарове – примили смо од Бога и позвани смо да кроз њих доносимо добре плодове.

Као што виноград окренут сунцу прима његову светлост и топлоту и доноси лепши и зрелији плод, тако је и са човеком. Што смо ближе Христу и Његовој светлости, то се плодови наше вере јасније виде кроз љубав, праштање, милосрђе и добра дела.

„Тако да се светли светлост ваша пред људима, да виде ваша добра дела и прославе Оца вашега који је на небесима.“ (Мт 5,16)

Позивамо вас да се у недељу, 6. септембра, заједно помолимо за благословен почетак нове школске године.

Након Свете Литургије биће служена молитва за благослов ученика и студената. Позивамо сву децу и младе, од најмлађих школараца до студената, да дођу на ову заједничку молитву.

Након Литургије, у црквеној сали, биће организован и упис деце у Недељну школу, коју води наша протиница Мирјана Мајсторовић.

Радујемо се новим сусретима, учењу и дружењу!

This Sunday, once again, we gathered for the Divine Liturgy in prayer and fellowship, listening to the words of the Holy Gospel and the Parable of the Wicked Tenants.

In this parable, our Lord tells of a landowner who planted and carefully prepared a vineyard and then entrusted it to tenants. When the time came to receive its fruit, he sent his servants, but the tenants rejected them—beating some, stoning others, and killing others. Finally, he sent his own Son, but they rejected and killed Him as well.

The landowner represents God, the vineyard represents God’s chosen people, Israel, and the tenants represent the spiritual leaders who had been entrusted with the care of God’s people. Christ’s words were directed to the chief priests and Pharisees, who understood that the Lord was speaking about them. The servants represent the prophets, while the Son and Heir is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Himself.

In his sermon, Father Djokan reminded us that the message of this Gospel also speaks to each one of us. Everything we have—our lives, our families, our loved ones, our faith, our time, and our gifts—has been given to us by God, and we are called to use these blessings to bear good fruit.

Just as a vineyard turned toward the sun receives its light and warmth and bears beautiful, ripe fruit, so it is with us. The closer we draw to Christ and His light, the more clearly the fruits of our faith can be seen through love, forgiveness, mercy, and good works.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

We invite you to join us on Sunday, September 6, as we pray together for God’s blessing at the beginning of the new school year.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a special prayer and blessing will be offered for our students. We invite all children and young people—from our youngest schoolchildren through college students—to join us in this special prayer.

Following the Divine Liturgy, registration for our Sunday School will also take place in the church hall. Our Sunday School is led by Protinica Mirjana Majstorović.

ПРЕОБРАЖЕЊЕ ГОСПОДЊЕ

На гори Тавор Господ наш Исус Христос преобразио се пред Својим ученицима и открио им Своју Божанску славу. Његово лице засијало је као сунце, а хаљине су постале беле као светлост. Тада су се пред Њим појавили Мојсије и Илија, а из светлог облака зачуо се глас Небеског Оца:

“Ово је син моји љубљени, њега слушајте.”

Преображење Господње један је од великих празника наше Цркве, који нас подсећа на Христову Божанску славу и позива да са вером следимо Његов пут.

Сутра, на празник Преображења Господњег, Света Литургија у нашем храму почиње у 10 часова.

Понесите грожђе на освећење, да заједно узнесемо благодарност Господу за Његове дарове и примимо Његов благослов.

Дођите да у молитви и заједничкој Литургији прославимо празник Преображења Господњег!

THE TRANSFIGURATION OF OUR LORD

On Mount Tabor, our Lord Jesus Christ was transfigured before His disciples, revealing to them the glory of His divinity. His face shone like the sun, and His garments became radiant and white as light. Moses and Elijah appeared before Him, and from the bright cloud came the voice of God the Father:

“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; listen to Him.”

The Transfiguration of Our Lord is one of the great feasts of the Orthodox Church. It reminds us of Christ’s divine glory and calls us to follow His path with faith and trust.

Tomorrow, on the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, Divine Liturgy at our church will begin at 10:00 AM.

Please bring grapes to be blessed, as we give thanks to God for the fruits of the earth and for all His blessings.

Come, let us celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration together in prayer and in the joy of the Divine Liturgy.

Дани Преображења Срба у Румунији ове године одржавају се од 17. до 19. августа и окупиће учеснике у Темишвару, Белобрешки, Старој Молдави и манастиру Базјаш.

Међу многобројним учесницима овог сусрета биће и наш представник – књижевник и парохијанин др Милутин Србљак.

Књижевни сусрети одржаће се и у Белобрешки, месту у којем се родио и упокојио наш некадашњи свештеник, протојереј-ставрофор отац Тома Стојшић.

Програм ће се одржати и у манастиру Базјаш, где ће се књижевни сусрети спојити са духовним програмом.

Књижевни дани завршиће се 19. августа, на празник Преображења Господњег, Светом архијерејском Литургијом и резањем славског колача у манастиру Базјаш.

У данима посвећеним српској речи, књижевности, духовности и сећању, лепо је подсетити се да је сама Реч у средишту наше вере:

„У почетку беше Логос, и Логос беше у Бога, и Логос беше Бог.“ (Јн. 1,1)

У светлости Преображења, нека свака добра реч наших књижевника води ка истини, љубави и Богу.

Нека Дани Преображења Срба у Румунији протекну у радости и на духовну корист свима који у њима учествују и који их прате.

The Days of the Transfiguration of the Serbs in Romania will take place this year from August 17–19, bringing together participants in Timișoara, Belobreska, Stara Moldava, and the Monastery of Bazjas.

Among the many participants in this gathering will be our own representative, writer and parishioner Dr. Milutin Srbljak.

Literary gatherings will also be held in Belobreska, the birthplace and final resting place of our former parish priest, Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Fr. Toma Stojsic.

The program will continue at the Monastery of Bazjas, where the literary gatherings will be joined by a spiritual program.

The Days will conclude on August 19, the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and the blessing and cutting of the Slava bread at the Monastery of Bazjas.

During these days dedicated to the Serbian word, literature, spirituality, and remembrance, it is beautiful to recall that the Word Himself is at the very heart of our faith:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)

In the light of the Transfiguration, may every good word shared by our writers lead us toward truth, love, and God.

May the Days of the Transfiguration of the Serbs in Romania be a joyful and blessed gathering for all who participate, and a source of spiritual benefit to all who follow and share in them.

У петак, 14. августа, почиње Великогоспојински пост, који траје до 27. августа, уочи празника Успења Пресвете Богородице, који прослављамо 28. августа.

Овај пост установљен је у част Пресвете Богородице и представља време молитве, поста и покајања, којим се верни припремају за достојно празновање великог празника Успења Пресвете Богородице – Велике Госпојине.

Према црквеном поретку, у време Великогоспојинског поста уздржавамо се од меса, јаја, млека и млечних производа. Суботом и недељом пост се разрешава на уље и вино, а 19. августа, на празник Преображења Господњег, разрешава се на рибу, уље и вино.

За болесне, децу, старије, оне који су на тешким физичким пословима, као и за све који из оправданих разлога нису у могућности да посте по строгости црквеног правила, препоручује се да се обрате свом парохијском свештенику или духовнику ради савета, додатних упутстава и, по потреби, разрешења од појединих видова поста.

Свети Оци нас уче да истински пост није само уздржавање од мрсне хране. Пост обухвата и душу: да се чувамо греха, гнева, зависти, осуђивања, оговарања и сваке зле речи и помисли; да праштамо ближњима, чинимо милостињу и умножимо молитву.

У данима поста настојмо да присуствујемо Светој Литургији, која ће се у нашем храму служити недељом у 10 часова, као и на празник Преображења Господњег, 19. августа, такође у 10 часова.

Приступимо Светој Тајни Исповести, очистимо своју душу покајањем и, са благословом свештеника, приступимо Светом Причешћу.

Јер у Светом Причешћу примамо истинито Тело и истиниту Крв Господа нашег Исуса Христа и сједињујемо се са Њим.

Нека нам Господ подари снаге да овај свети пост проведемо у миру, смирењу и молитви, на духовну корист и спасење душа наших.

On Friday, August 14, we begin the Dormition Fast, which lasts until August 27, the eve of the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, celebrated on August 28.

The Dormition Fast is a special time of prayer, repentance, and spiritual preparation as we prepare to celebrate the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, one of the great feasts of the Orthodox Church.

During the fast, we abstain from meat, eggs, milk, and dairy products. On Saturdays and Sundays, w**e and oil are permitted. On August 19, the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, fish, w**e, and oil are permitted.

Fasting is not the same for everyone. Those who are ill, children, the elderly, those who perform heavy physical work, and anyone who cannot follow the full strictness of the fast for a legitimate reason should speak with their parish priest or spiritual father. The priest can offer guidance and, when appropriate, a blessing for a less strict fast.

The Holy Fathers remind us that fasting is about much more than what we eat. True fasting also means guarding our hearts and minds from anger, envy, judgment, gossip, and hurtful words; learning to forgive; showing mercy and generosity to others; and making more time for prayer.

During the fast, let us make an effort to attend the Divine Liturgy. In our parish, the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated every Sunday at 10:00 a.m., as well as on the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, August 19, at 10:00 a.m.

Let us also prepare ourselves through the Holy Mystery of Confession and, with the blessing of our priest, receive Holy Communion.

In Holy Communion, we receive the true Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ and are united with Him.

May the Lord give us strength to keep this holy fast with peace, humility, prayer, and love, so that these days may bring us closer to God and be for the salvation and spiritual benefit of our souls.

У недељу, 9. августа, у нашем храму прослављен је празник Светог великомученика Пантелејмона.

Свети Пантелејмон, родом из Никомидије, изучио је лекарске науке и свој живот посветио помагању болеснима и сиромашнима. Након што је примио хришћанску веру, исцељивао је болесне призивајући име Христово, не тражећи за то никакву награду. Због своје вере у Христа пострадао је мученички 304. године.

Након Свете Литургије служен је помен свим невино пострадалима и прогнанима у „Олуји“, као и свим жртвама ратова и прогона. У молитви смо се сетили оних који су изгубили животе, као и свих који и данас носе успомену на те тешке дане.

По завршетку парастоса приређена је трпеза љубави, коју су припремили наши парохијани. Међу њима су били и они који су и сами, као прогнани, свој живот наставили далеко од својих огњишта и овде пронашли нови дом.

Посебно је било обраћање богослова Уроша, који је говорио о страдању нашег народа из перспективе православне вере. Подсетио је на важност да сећање сачувамо и пренесемо млађим нараштајима, али и да страдање не претворимо у мржњу.

Из његовог обраћања издвајамо:

„Наши људи никада нису били ближи својим огњиштима, јер су сваки дан молитвено тамо.“

Говорећи о односу према онима који су нам нанели зло, Урош је рекао:

„Не мрзе они нас, него ђаво који је у њима мрзи Христа у нама.“

Подсетио је и да праштање не значи заборав, већ да треба да чувамо сећање на прошлост, али и своје срце од мржње.

Своје обраћање завршио је Христовим речима:

„По томе ће сви познати да сте Моји ученици, ако будете имали љубав међу собом.“

Тако је и ово недељно сабрање протекло у молитви и сећању, али и у заједништву наших парохијана.

Нека нам Господ подари мир, а свим пострадалима вечни покој.

On Sunday, August 9, our parish gathered to celebrate the feast of Saint Great-Martyr Panteleimon.

Saint Panteleimon was born in Nicomedia and trained as a physician. He devoted his life to caring for the sick and the poor. After embracing the Christian faith, he healed the sick through the name of Christ, asking for nothing in return. Because of his faith in Christ, he suffered martyrdom in the year 304.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a memorial service was offered in prayer for all those who were innocently killed and displaced during Operation “Storm”, as well as for all victims of war and persecution. We remembered those who lost their lives and all those who continue to carry the memories of those painful days.

After the memorial service, our parishioners gathered for an Agape — a meal of love and fellowship, lovingly prepared by members of our parish. Among them were those who themselves had been forced from their homes and had begun a new life far from their native land, eventually finding a new home here.

A special reflection was offered by our theology student, Uros, who spoke about the suffering of our people from the perspective of the Orthodox Christian faith. He reminded us of the importance of preserving our memory and passing it on to younger generations, while also reminding us that our suffering must never become a source of hatred.

Among his words, he shared:

“Our people have never been closer to their homes and native lands, because every day, we are there in prayer.”

Speaking about how we should respond to those who have caused us harm, Uros said:

“It is not they who hate us; it is the devil within them who hates Christ within us.”

He also reminded us that forgiveness does not mean forgetting. We are called to preserve the memory of the past while, at the same time, guarding our hearts from hatred.

He concluded his reflection with the words of Christ:

“By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

And so, this Sunday’s gathering was a time of prayer and remembrance, but also of fellowship and unity within our parish community.

May the Lord grant us peace, and may He grant eternal rest to all who have suffered and fallen.

У недељу је наша парохија молитвено прославила празник Светог пророка Илије, једног од највећих пророка Старога Завета.

Свети пророк Илија био је ватрени ревнитељ истините вере у Јединога Бога. Живео је у време цара Ахава, када је израиљски народ, под утицајем царице Језавеље, отпадао од Бога и клањао се идолима. Рођен је у месту Тесвит, по коме је касније и прозван Тесвићанин. По Божијој заповести прорекао је велику сушу која је трајала три године, а Господ га је чудесно хранио крај потока Хората преко гавранова. У Сарепти Сидонској умножио је брашно и уље сиромашној удовици и васкрсао њеног сина. На гори Кармил, пред царем и народом, Господ је огњем са неба примио његову жртву, показавши да је Он једини истинити Бог. По завршетку своје пророчке службе, Свети пророк Илија жив је узнет на небо у огњеним колима. Свето Предање учи да ће се, пре Другог доласка Господа Исуса Христа, поново јавити на земљи заједно са праведним Енохом, како би сведочили истину Божију.

Светој Литургији присуствовало је око 80 верника, а том приликом пререзано је седам славских колача.

По завршетку Свете Литургије, на Српском имању уприличени су пикник и прослава славе Фудбалског клуба „Бели орлови“. Овогодишњи кум славе био је Горан Стојановић, док је након обреда сечења и предаје славског колача кумство за наредну годину преузео Дејан Бурсаћ.

Празнични дан обележила је и пријатељска утакмица између ФК „Бели орлови“ и ФК „Србија“ из Њујорка, која је окупила љубитеље спорта и протекла у духу фер-плеја и доброг дружења.

Благодаримо свима који су својим присуством, трудом и љубављу допринели да овај празнични дан протекне у радости, молитвеном духу и братском заједништву.

Радујемо се будућим сусретима и заједничким сабрањима у нашем светом храму.

On Sunday, our parish prayerfully celebrated the Feast of the Holy Prophet Elijah, one of the greatest prophets of the Old Testament.

The Holy Prophet Elijah was a zealous defender of the true faith in the One God. He lived during the reign of King Ahab, when the people of Israel, under the influence of Queen Jezebel, turned away from God and worshiped idols. He was born in the town of Tishbe, from which he became known as Elijah the Tishbite. By God’s command, he foretold a great drought that lasted for three years, during which the Lord miraculously sustained him by sending ravens to bring him food at the Brook Cherith. In Zarephath of Sidon, he miraculously multiplied the widow’s flour and oil and raised her son from the dead. On Mount Carmel, before the king and all the people, the Lord answered his prayer by sending fire from heaven to consume the sacrifice, revealing that He alone is the true God. At the completion of his prophetic ministry, the Holy Prophet Elijah was taken alive into heaven in a fiery chariot. Holy Tradition teaches that before the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, he will return to earth together with the righteous Enoch to bear witness to the truth of God.

Approximately 80 faithful gathered for the Divine Liturgy, during which seven families celebrated their patron saint’s feast with the traditional blessing and cutting of the slava bread.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a parish picnic and the Slava celebration of the Serbian Soccer Club White Eagles were held at the Serbian Grounds. This year’s k*m (Slava sponsor) was Goran Stojanović. Following the traditional blessing, cutting, and ceremonial passing of the Slava bread, Dejan Bursać accepted the honor of serving as next year’s k*m.

The festive day also included a friendly soccer match between FC White Eagles and FC Serbia of New York, bringing together sports enthusiasts in a spirit of friendship, fair play, and fellowship.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone whose presence, dedication, and love helped make this feast day one of joy, prayer, and Christian fellowship.

We look forward to many future gatherings as we continue to worship and celebrate together in our holy church.
