I wanted to follow up my announcement during yesterday’s service with a postl to make sure you all have the information needed for the collection for the Hurricane Melissa relief effort.
The Metro NY District has set up a link for you to donate via credit card directly to the Hurricane Melissa Disaster Relief fund. 100% of your funds are going to disaster relief.
The donation form is located here: https://buy.stripe.com/fZucN5e1R75U15mfkU7IY0g. To donate via this form:
1. Enter the amount you wish to donate
2. Select “Card” underneath Payment Options
3. Enter your credit card details
4. Press the “Pay” button.
Also, THIS WEEK ONLY, we are collecting supplies to be sent to the disaster areas hit by Melissa. The district is asking for the following essential hurricane survival items:
• Bottled water
• Toiletries & Hygiene products
• Diapers, Wipes, and Baby Formula
• Canned and dry food (non-perishable and easy to prepare)
• Clothing — new
• Towels/ blankets
• Sleeping bags
• Tarpaulins (tarps)
• Flashlights and batteries
Please place any supplies you bring in a box, for ease of transport.
I apologize for the short notice, but the District wants to get these supplies out as soon as possible. A select group of Metro-area churches are collecting these supplies and have set a hard deadline of November 17th so they can prepare them to ship shortly after. Therefore, we will be collecting supplies until THIS COMING SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH. If you bring supplies during the week, please bring them to the church office. If you plan to bring donations on Sunday, we ask that you leave them in your car until after service. Tony Visalli has graciously volunteered to bring all the collected supplies to Solid Rock Church of the Nazarene in Queens Village on the 17th. After service we will assemble in the parking lot to transfer the supplies from the shed and from your cars into Tony’s.
