Pat Naz Church

Pat Naz Church A Jesus-centered community inviting all people to experience the fullness of His grace. God has made himself known in His deeds of creation and redemption.

OUR Vision for Christian Ministry

As stated by the Church of the Nazarene, “The chief purpose of all persons — indeed, all of the creation — is to worship, love, and serve God. As the Redeemer, God has called into existence a people, the Church, who embody, celebrate, and declare His name and His ways. The life of God with His people and the world constitutes the Story of God. That story is reco

rded principally in the Old and New Testaments, and continues to be told by the resurrected Christ who lives and reigns as Head of His Church. The Church lives to declare the whole Story of God. This it does in many ways—in the lives of its members who are even now being transformed by Christ, through preaching, the sacraments, in oral testimony, and in mission. All members of the Body of Christ are called to exercise a ministry of witness and service. No one is excluded.”

One word sums it all up; REAL. Seemingly, if something or someone isn’t “real” they’re not for real. But what does all that mean? At Pataskala Church of the Nazarene REAL means that the root of all we do and believe is The Bible. Since we believe in the authority of the scripture only real beliefs comes from the TRUTH found in God’s Word.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)

WE BELIEVE

We believe in one God that expresses himself in three personalities of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living. We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is inclined to evil and that nature continually. We believe that the ones who do not repent of their sins are hopelessly and eternally lost. We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and saved from penalty of sin which is eternal death. We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers. We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place. We believe that the biblical principle for support of the church is through the Tithes and Offerings of the believers. We believe that the source of growth in God’s church is the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Sixteen Articles of Faith as presented in the “Manual of the Church of the Nazarene.”

Pastor Kasey did a phenomenal job closing out our Sidekick Series today! 👏

Our final Sidekick was Ananias from Acts 9—an ordinary man who said “yes” when God called him to do something difficult.

God asked Ananias to go to Saul, the man persecuting Christians. Ananias was afraid and had questions, but he trusted God and obeyed. His obedience played a part in Saul’s transformation into the apostle Paul.

Ananias’ story reminds us of Jonah. Both were called by God to do something they didn’t want to do, but their responses were very different. Jonah ran, while Ananias ultimately went where God sent him.

Pastor Kasey reminded us of the roles of a sidekick:
* Someone who FOLLOWS a Hero
* Someone who LEARNS from a Hero
* Someone who SUPPORTS and PARTICIPATES in the mission of a Hero

And when those roles are achieved we begin to look more like the Hero.

The goal is for people to see the Hero… Jesus. ❤️

What a great Sunday together at Pat Naz! This week’s Sidekick was Barnabas—the “son of encouragement.”

Barnabas was known for seeing potential in people and giving them opportunities to grow. He stood up for Saul when others were afraid of him and later invested in John Mark when Paul had given up on him.

Barnabas reminds us that our greatest impact may not always be what we accomplish, but the investment we make in someone else’s life.

When we encourage people into their potential, we are joining in God’s work.

Barnabas
Acts 4:42–47

Many of you have shared your favorite “Sidekick” from this sermon series. Some have said Hagar, Rhoda, Baruch, Jahaziel, Jehoshaphat, and Asaph.

This week, we’ll explore Pastor David’s favorite Sidekick of Scripture! His birth name was Joseph, but the apostles gave him the nickname Barnabas, which means “son of encouragement.” ❤️

Join us this Sunday as we discover the story of Barnabas and the powerful impact one encourager can have. 🙌
