Day 1 of the Snowball Mountain Challenge is officially in the books! 🏔️❄️ Our Challengers had an absolute blast kicking off VBS today. We started tackling our week-long memory verse theme, Philippians 4:13, and learned a powerful lift lesson: "I can share my gifts!" 🎁✨

Welcome to “Feel Good Friday!”

Each week we’ll be shining a light on local nonprofits making a positive difference to Patagonia, AZ and the surrounding communities. This is our way of sharing their stories and celebrating greatness so close to home!

The Patagonia Trading Post’s Nonprofit of the Week is:

Patagonia Community UMC Thrift Shop

The Patagonia Community UMC Thrift Shop is so much more than a place to score a great find. Run entirely by dedicated volunteers, this beloved shop has been serving the community since the early 1980s, offering affordable clothing, household goods, and those one-of-a-kind treasures you didn’t know you needed.

What makes it truly special is the impact it has beyond its walls. Proceeds from the shop are reinvested right back into the community, supporting local nonprofits, outreach programs, and services that help neighbors in need.

But if you’ve ever stopped in, you know it’s also about the people. It’s a place to connect, to chat, to laugh, and to feel that small-town sense of care that makes Patagonia so unique.

It’s generosity, community, and a little bit of magic all wrapped into one humble thrift shop.

A beautiful reminder of what connection looks like in action. 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼 Our deepest Thank You! go out to the church family of Mesquite UMC in Mesquite, NV for their incredible generosity - sending thrift store donations to support our local community, along with over $1,000 and a bounty of snacks dedicated entirely to our VBS/Children Ministry. We are especially thankful for Faith, who adopted this cause as her own personal mission and worked tirelessly to carry it to fruition. Because of your collective hearts for service, our broader community is being strengthened through the thrift shop, and we are able to pour love, joy, and resources directly into the next generation of children at VBS. God bless you all! 🙏🏽❤️

We're excited to welcome children from across our community for this year's Vacation Bible School. This year's theme is Snowball Mountain Challenge! Whether your child has been to church for years or this will be their very first visit, they'll be welcomed with open arms as we learn, laugh, play, and grow together.

As we celebrate 250 years of our nation, we give thanks to God for the freedoms we enjoy, the community we share, and the opportunity to gather in fellowship. We look forward to celebrating with you! 🇺🇸❤️

A great Annual Conference in the books! ❤️

Kay, Olivia, and I were grateful to represent Patagonia Community UMC, connect with fellow United Methodists from across the conference, and share in worship, learning, and fellowship together.

And yes—the Bishop made time for a photo. 😉

This year's conference theme, "We Are the Church Together," was grounded in Acts 2:42–47 and Ephesians 4:11–16 and is part of our shared vision of becoming "A Healthy Church for a Healthy World." Together, we were reminded that healthy disciples build healthy churches, healthy churches strengthen communities, and healthy communities help transform the world.

Thank you for your prayers during our time away. We’re happy to be back home and look forward to seeing you all in worship this Sunday!

Grateful for the love and support from our friends at Mesquite United Methodist Church (Mesquite, NV). Thank you for the generous donations being sent with us to support the thrift shop ministry at Patagonia Community United Methodist Church. What may seem like small donations often become a huge blessing in our community — helping families, supporting local needs, and allowing the church to continue pouring back into the people around us.

A special thank you as well to Rev. Jeanne Festa for graciously covering for me back home while I’m away with family. Ministry is truly a team effort, and I’m deeply grateful.

Missing my Patagonia church family very much and looking forward to being back home soon. 💛
