Sukkot (September 21-29, 2021) is an especially joyous holiday that celebrates the close relationship we had with God in the desert when we were sheltered beneath God's Clouds of Glory. We relate to this closeness most now, after the cleansing and rebonding with God of the High Holidays.

Sukkot is also the time when the crops were gathered from the fields in ancient Israel. We thank God for our material blessings of the past year and pray for rain for the coming year. Yom Kippur (September 16, 2021), the day of atonement, is the culmination of the High Holidays. It is the day in which God's love for His people is strongest. We fast, pray, and repent our past mistakes, and God lovingly reaccepts us as His special nation. Yom Kippur marks the end of the period of judgment begun on Rosh Hashanah, our final chance to return wholeheartedly to God and receive His forgiveness. On this day God's hands are opened wide, eagerly awaiting our repentance and reconciliation.
