Midweek Recap
"The Difference In Getting In And Staying Out"
Deuteronomy 3:26 But the LORD was wroth with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the LORD said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.
Deuteronomy 3:27 Get thee up into the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan.
Deuteronomy 3:28 But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.
- Moses didn't go in because of disobedience
- Joshua did go in because of obedience
- Moses pictures a believer living by fleshly means
- Joshua pictures a believer living by spiritual means
- Moses pictures a believer that is influenced by that "old man" or that sinful, fleshly nature
- Joshua pictures a believer that is influenced by the "new man" or that Spirit-led, born-again nature
Joshua is a great picture of Christ and how Christ works in the believers life. Knowing this, look at a few things in the text:
1. The Charge (v.28a)
- If we want to live in victory, we must let Jesus be in charge.
2. The Encouragement (v.28b)
- If we want to live in victory, we have to have the courage enough to allow God's word to encourage us to continue to rely on the Lord Jesus and not our own flesh.
3. The Strength (v.28c)
- If we want to live in victory, we must strengthen the things of God in our life. Jesus has never lost a battle and He will never lose a battle, but for Him to be most effective in your life, you're going to have to strengthen Him and weaken your flesh. In other words, the less we see of us and our flesh, the more we'll see of Christ.
There's more in the message to help encourage you and I'll pray you'll take a few minutes to listen and be blessed.
Are you getting in to the victorious Christian life or are you staying out?
Have a great Friday in the Lord!
