The Unitarian Universalist Association has released a historic “Statement on Faithful Dissent, Noncompliance and Civil Disobedience,” affirming that civil disobedience, noncompliance, and direct action can be faithful expressions of Unitarian Universalist values and religious practice.

The statement roots this witness in our living faith tradition, our commitment to justice, equity, interdependence, and pluralism, and our long history of faithful dissent against oppression.

In a new UU World article, Rev. Sara LaWall, minister at the Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Idaho, reflects on what this means in lived experience. After her arrest during a protest of anti-trans legislation in Idaho, she writes: “My actions were not done in haste or out of spite but were, in fact, guided by the values and moral conscience instilled in me by our Unitarian Universalist faith and our history.”

Ever wondered how our campus stays so lush and vibrant? The Dirt Divas are a group of volunteers who work all year long to design, plant, w**d and otherwise nurture all the green spaces you enjoy and that make our church grounds welcoming and beautiful.

They began their work as Dirt Divas during the Pandemic and their commitment is still strong. The Divas usually meet every other Tuesday morning, and Saturdays on occasion.

They are always accepting helpful hands on an occasional basis, or better yet, as a member of our ongoing group. Bring a hat, and a trowel and gloves if you have them. Whether or not you have gardening experience – you will find a great community and a sense of accomplishment!

Members of our Young Adult Group gathered last week to celebrate and send-off Ginger Furey on her final day with us as Director of Congregational Life.

Ginger’s leadership, dedication, and care have meant so much to this community, and we’re grateful for the community she’s helped to foster. While we’ll miss her dearly, we’re wishing her the best in her next chapter!
