We are building an outdoor labyrinth!

On the south side of All Saints, between the new Throughline and the chapel entrance, you will see a labyrinth around the tree. It's still under construction, but you can certainly walk in it.

This labyrinth was designed by All Saints member Chris Runco in conjunction with Marlan Clarke and Mel Soriano. The labyrinth ministry worked in the hot summer sun to get the walking meditation path established. One of the best features of this labyrinth is that it is wheelchair and walker-friendly; once you reach the center, you can sit and pray underneath the shade of the lovely tree.

Wherever you are on your journey of faith, you are welcome here. Please feel free to walk on this labyrinth at any time.

Stuck at home because of the current pandemic? You can walk a labyrinth by just building a temporary one with just two or three ropes.

The photos show two fifty foot blue ropes and one fifty foot yellow rope. When you put two swirling circles on top of each other, you get a labyrinth!

Found this labyrinth in South Pasadena in the Arroyo Seco trails. It's hidden away in the trees, next to the hidden butterfly garden. If you're looking for a private walk, it's just south of the golf course driving range and tennis courts.

Many see two ropes.
If you see two ropes, you can see a labyrinth.
Later this week, Mel Soriano of the All Saints Labyrinth Ministry will offer a lecture on Labyrinths at the Westminster Garden Senior Community in Duarte. He will use these two ropes to create a temporary labyrinth while the community builds one beside their pond.

Stay tuned this week for photos to show how, using two ropes, you can set up a simple labyrinth wherever you are

When walking the labyrinth at the Community of Divine Love monastery, you hear birds and wind chimes, smell roses, and bask in the warmth of the dappled sun

Vale Rachel Held Evans

"The difference between a labyrinth and a maze is that a labyrinth has no dead ends.

The famed eleven-circuit labyrinth inlaid in the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France has just one path, which takes the pilgrim in and out of four quadrants in a spiraling motion through dozens of left and right turns, before reaching its rosette center. Such a pattern invites meditation, and reminds the pilgrim the journey of faith is rarely a straightforward one.

It has become cliché to talk about faith as a journey, and yet the metaphor holds. Scripture doesn’t speak of people who found God. Scripture speaks of people who walked with God. This is a keep-moving, one-foot-in-front-of-the-other, who-knows-what’s-next deal, and you never exactly arrive. I don’t know if the paths’ all drawn out ahead of time, or if it corkscrews with each step like Alice’s Wonderland, or if, as some like to say, we make the road by walking, but I believe the journey is more labyrinth than maze. No step taken in faith is wasted, not by a God who makes all things new."
