Seedling Community Transformation · Clothing Organization Project
An Overlooked Rural Problem
Many people donate clothes to rural families, but after entering these homes, we discovered: The problem isn’t a lack of clothes, but too many clothes with no one to organize them.
In several families we visited, entire rooms were buried under mountains of clothing, left on the floor for so long that they accumulated thick layers of dust and even animal f***s. Children live in these conditions.
This is not an isolated case—it’s a widespread phenomenon.
From Home Visit to Action
📷 Photo 1: Family InterviewDuring a previous home visit, we had an in-depth conversation with Mr. Tsai to understand this single-parent family’s situation and needs. As a father raising his children alone, life is already difficult—he simply doesn’t have the time or capacity to organize mountains of accumulated clothing.
📷 Photo 2: Seeing the Real ChallengeThe entire room buried under clothes—this is the challenge we face. This isn’t just an environmental issue; it affects the children’s health and learning.
The Father’s Participation Is Key
After the home visit, we decided to help Mr. Tsai’s family. But this isn’t just about cleaning for them—more importantly: We need to teach the father how to maintain it.
Thank the Lord! Mr. Tsai was willing to participate in the entire process with his children.
Action Day
📷 Photo 3: To the Laundromat TogetherThis laundry project was extremely challenging. The volume of clothes was so massive that the home washing machine and dryer were completely inadequate—we had to divide the laundry into three batches. While waiting for the laundry, our team also cleaned the utility room.
Drying was an even bigger challenge! Because the volume was so large, it took forever to dry at first. We had to make emergency adjustments and ask Mr. Tsai to review the clothes—baby onesies, children’s dresses that no longer fit, and damaged pants. The father is very sentimental, but with gentle persuasion from everyone, he finally discarded a large bag of unusable items.
📷 Photo 4: Racing Against Time, Neighbors Helping TooThe remaining clothes were urgently pulled out and re-sorted. Racing to finish before volunteers had to leave at 12:00 noon, we successfully moved into the folding phase. Everyone worked together:
• Sorting adults’ and children’s clothes
• Separating summer and winter items
• Folding and bagging everything
The best part: Neighbors came to help too! We also taught the father quick folding methods, hoping to help him maintain this in the future.
Team’s Dedication, Family’s Turning Point
From morning to noon, our team:
• Three batches of laundry, running back and forth
• Encountered drying difficulties, immediately adjusted strategy
• Helped clean the utility room
• Gently persuaded the father to declutter
• Raced against time to sort, fold, and organize
• Taught organizing methods hands-on
This wasn’t just physical labor—it was a process of accompanying a single father and his children with love.
Change Is Happening
This is more than just cleaning clothes:
• Children now have a clean, healthy environment
• A single father learned to organize with his children
• The family is establishing order in their lives
• Neighbor relationships have grown stronger
This is the beginning of family restoration.
Thank You for Your Support
Cleaning clothes may seem insignificant, but for this single-parent family, it’s the courage to start anew.
Every home visit, every batch of laundry, every folded garment—these are marks of our team’s dedication through sweat and love.
Thank you for your donations, enabling us to continue accompanying these families!
