UPDATE: After being in the hospital since May 4, Don was finally discharged yesterday evening. He was thrilled to be back in familiar surroundings. Over the next few weeks he will have visits from a home healthcare nurse, a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, and an aide. The scheduling for all that is still being determined. We do know Don faces a long road to recovery from this infection. Your continued prayers against that infection and strength of spirit are greatly appreciated. We know God hears the prayers of His children
PLEASE READ: I have waited to share until Don gave permission.
On April 27 we received a call that Don’s knee replacement was infected. Due to the severity of the infection on the following Monday he had surgery to remove the knee replacement and insert a static spacer infused with antibiotics. Since the surgery there have been several bumps which required transferring to another hospital and then to a skilled nursing floor. This will be a long and challenging recovery. Don cannot put any weight on the leg and due to the static spacer it cannot bend. He will be on antibiotics via infusion for several weeks. We know prayer works and we humbly ask for prayers against the infection, for strength of body and spirit. This has been very difficult for all of us but we lean on God to get us through. I will update as progress is made.
