Jesus told the disciples that they were going to the other side of the lake. This is the account of the disciples fearing for their lives because of a horrible storm that swept through while they were on the lake. Jesus is sleeping through it. They were a mess. If Jesus says we’re going to the other side of the lake – that’s exactly what’s going to happen. Remember who you’re talking to – the one who put death in its grave, the one who saved your soul, the one who has answered prayers before, and the one who is going to get you to the other side of the lake.

This one… it’s easier to get up, grab the coffee, find the list and get moving. Feels productive, especially when that list includes serving others. Feels great, in fact. Nothing wrong with this either. We do have responsibilities that must be checked off. Like Martha, we fizz around making things happen, even for others. We forget the most important part though- to sit with the One who wants to be a part of it all. Take time today to sit with Jesus. Start with 5 min. Build on that. We can’t be Martha without being Mary too.

Forgiveness is asked for often, but repentance is often misunderstood. Repentance is turning away from sin and turning to a better way of living- God’s way. We can’t repent in our own strength- ask the Lord to help you. Maybe you just can’t see a way to change right now, but ask God to change your desires and He will do it. He doesn’t expect us to do it alone. His forgiveness is there everyday for us as we try again. Soon, we begin to see fruit and benefits from repenting or changing our behaviors from the sins that entrap us to freedom!
