How do you teach your children about Jesus?

It is never too early to help a child grow their testimony in Jesus Christ. Young children are often more sensitive to the Spirit than we realize.

Daily family prayer, family scripture study, and sharing your testimony in sacrament meeting are easier and more effective when children are young.

When they are older, they will remember the hymns they sang with you. Even more than recalling music, they will remember the words of scripture and testimony.

The Holy Ghost can bring all things to their remembrance, but the words of scriptures and hymns will last the longest. When trials come, those memories will be a source of strength throughout their life.

Each Christmas Eve, my father read to our family from Luke, chapter 2 about the birth of Jesus Christ. He also always read the account of Mary and Joseph bringing the baby Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem.

My father read about Simeon who knew that he would not die before he had seen the Savior of the world. Simeon saw Jesus, held Him up, and said, “Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou has prepared before the face of all people.”

At that point, my father always bore his testimony in heavily accented English, “I may not be able to hold dat little baby Yesus in my arms, but I know, yust as vell as Simeon knew, dat dat baby vas the Son of God, my Savior and Redeemer. He is real and He lives.” My father then looked at each of us with his piercing blue eyes and said with an emphatic nod, “And you can know it, too.”

My father and mother knew who that babe in Bethlehem was and what He would accomplish. This knowledge transformed them. It has transformed me.

This Christmas, seek the spiritual gift of knowing of the living reality of the Savior of the world. You can know that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that He atoned for your sins. This knowledge is longer lasting than any gift you will receive this or any other Christmas because it can transform you.

“The Family: A Proclamation to the World” states, “The family is ordained of God.” I love the clarity of that statement.

The Family Proclamation is a call for us to live in mortality, ever mindful of the divinity within us, and the eternal future that lies before us.

The principles are not out of step—but perfectly in step with the ways of the Lord and His covenant path.

The teachings of the Proclamation were revealed by our Lord Jesus Christ to His Apostles then and now. This is His Church; He has established the truths by which we live.

Our Father in Heaven has provided this proclamation to help guide us home to Him, to help us learn and be filled with love, strength, purpose, and eternal understanding.

In Jesus Christ’s restored Church, we are all better when no one sits alone.

Today, many feel lonely and isolated. Social media and artificial intelligence can conjure a mirage of digital connectedness that leaves us thirsting for human closeness and human touch.

We want to hear each other’s voices. We want authentic belonging and kindness.

In His Church and through His ordinances and covenants, Jesus Christ can heal and bless us. By coming to each other and to Him, we love and are loved, serve and are served, forgive and are forgiven.

Let us not simply accommodate or tolerate. Let us genuinely welcome, acknowledge, minister to, love. May each friend, sister, brother, not be a foreigner or stranger but a child at home.

"My first sight-giving, life-giving encounter with real evidence of truth did not come with anointing clay or in the pool of Siloam. No, the instrument of truth that brought my healing from the Lord came as pages in a book—yes, the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ."

"The impact in my life of the Book of Mormon is no less miraculous than was the application of spit and dirt placed on the blind man’s eyes. It's been, for me, a rod of safety for my soul, a transcendent and penetrating light of revelation, an illumination on the path I must walk when mists of darkness come, as surely they have and as surely they will."

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — President Russell M. Nelson, President Dallin H. Oaks and President Henry B. Eyring — has released the following Easter message:

During this joyful Easter season, we join with faithful followers of the Savior in celebrating the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Resurrection is a gift to all of Heavenly Father’s children who have ever lived on this earth.

We testify that Jesus Christ gives rest to those who are “heavy laden” (Matthew 11:28). He knows “how to succor his people according to their infirmities” (Alma 7:12) because He took upon Himself our pains and sins. “He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows ... and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:4-5).

Those who exercise faith in Him, keep His commandments, and receive the saving and exalting ordinances “shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal” (Moroni 7:41).

We invite all to come unto Jesus “that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Binding ourselves to Him through making and keeping covenants enriches our lives now and eternally. May you find hope, healing, and happiness as you draw nearer to the Savior of the world this Easter season.
