Women’s Community would like to thank Ms Mona Morales-Recalde member of the Gabrieleno/Tongva San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians, who gave an informed and clear history of this First Nation, shared her own family history and legacy, the current challenges faced by this First Nation. Ms Recalde shared the stories with Grace, a sense of humor and hope, which moved us and inspired us to continue the dialogue and share the story more widely. Thank you Ms Recalde for coming and bringing your beautiful family! We also want to thank Hanna Earnshaw from All Saints Church, who shared their passion and work to bring awareness, learn about All Saints history on this land, introduce the land acknowledgment that is now used at ministry meetings. We had such a big turnout, that shows the interest to learn more about this sacred land and the First Nation, Gabrieleno/Tongva San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians. Thank You Women’s Community Steering Committee for organizing this special event!

Women's Community and the Latino/Hispanic Ministry hosted an Immigration talk and fundraiser on Saturday with the Directors of the IRCSGV (Immigration Resource Center of San Gabriel Valley) Jean Grant and the Pasadena Job Center Jose Madera. We learned more about the realities for our immigrant neighbors and how we can jump in now and help support them. There are many ways to get involved including financial support for legal fees, food deliveries for those unable to leave their homes, and joining local activist groups for protests and community defense trainings. Watch this space for more opportunities.
