Looking for a great way to deepen your faith and connect with others at Sovereign Grace Church of Pasadena? Come join our Men’s and Women’s Book Groups this Saturday from 8:30 to 10:00 AM!

The guys meet at Peet’s Coffee to dig into the book of James, discuss how applies to everyday life, encourage one another, and enjoy some good coffee and fellowship.

The women are in the middle of an eight-week study of the using a book by John Stott. Together, they’re exploring Jesus’ teaching and what it means to live out His kingdom values in everyday life.

✝️ JESUS IS LIFE: REST IN THE ASSURANCE OF ETERNAL LIFE! ❤️

What if the life you've been working so hard to build could never truly satisfy you? What if the peace you've been searching for comes not from what you accomplish, but from what Jesus has already done?

Last Sunday, Pastor Tim continued our series through 1 John, preaching from 1 John 5:6–13 and reminding us of one of the most important truths of our faith: Real life is found in Christ alone.

We spend so much of our lives trying to work our way to fulfillment, peace, and security through our own efforts. But no matter how hard we try, we fall short. We need something, and Someone, greater than ourselves.

God has defeated death to save His people! Through Jesus' death and resurrection, He has put to death everything that stands in the way of true life. Our salvation doesn't depend on our ability. It rests on the trustworthiness of God and the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Our response? Repentance and rest. Turn away from trusting in ourselves and rest in what Jesus has already accomplished for us.

The promises life to all who believe. That truth should give believers tremendous assurance. We don't have to live in constant fear or uncertainty. We can trust and rest in His grace.

But this incredible news isn't meant to stay with us. The assurance of eternal life should move us to share the message of Jesus with others. The hope we've received is the hope the world desperately needs.

So ask yourself: Are you resting in what Jesus has done, or are you still trying to earn what only He can give?

Jesus is life. Trust Him. Rest in Him. Share Him.

❤️ BORN OF GOD: FAITH, LOVE AND OBEDIENCE ❤️

What does it mean to be “born of God”?

This Sunday, Pastor Tim continued our series through 1 John, preaching from 1 John 5 and reminding us that God gives those who trust in Christ a completely new identity: we are born of God.

And that new identity changes the way we live.

Faith, love, and obedience are inseparably connected. They aren't three separate pieces of the . When God changes our hearts, our faith produces love, and genuine love produces a desire to follow God's commands.

That might sound strange to the world. The world often separates love from obedience. But Scripture shows us something different.

To love God is to walk in His commands.
To love our brothers and sisters is to live in obedience to God.

And that means the local church matters.

If someone says they love God but has no need or desire for the family of God, that should cause us to pause. We aren't meant to follow Jesus in isolation. God has made us part of a spiritual family, and we demonstrate our love for Him by loving His people.

Jesus gave us the greatest commandment: and .

Our obedience doesn't earn God's love. Rather, because we have experienced God's love, we respond by trusting Him, following His commands, and loving those He has placed around us.

And there is good news in all of this: faith in Jesus gives us victory over the world and over sin. We don't have to live according to the patterns of the world. Through faith and love, God gives us the strength to walk in a new way because we have been made new in Christ.

Born of God. Loved by God. Called to love God and love others.

🍂🔥 WHAT A GREAT FALL BBQ! 🍔❤️

What a wonderful afternoon of food, fun, , and family at our annual Sovereign Grace Church of Pasadena Fall BBQ!

From the delicious food and games to the kids having a blast in the splash zone, it was a great day of simply being together and enjoying the gift of .

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it happen! From those who coordinated the event and handled all the logistics, to those who cooked, prepared food, set things up, cleaned up, organized games, and helped make sure everyone felt welcome, we are incredibly grateful for all the time and effort that went into making the afternoon such a success.

And of course, thank you to the Lee family for opening their home and allowing our church family to gather together!

These are the moments that remind us that church is more than what happens on Sunday morning. We are a family in Christ, called to encourage one another, share life together, and enjoy fellowship with one another.

Thank you, SGCP family, for making this such a memorable day. We are grateful for each of you! ❤️

❤️ GOD’S PERFECT LOVE: A LOVE THAT CASTS OUT FEAR! ❤️

What does it mean to truly love? And where do we find a love that never fails, never runs out, and isn't dependent on our circumstances?

Last Sunday, Pastor Tim continued our series through 1 John, from 1 John 4:7–23 and reminding us of the incredible, unconditional .

God didn't just tell us He loves us. He demonstrated His perfect love by sending His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for us. While the world's version of love is often selfish and conditional, God's love is self-sacrificing, limitless, and life-transforming.

And here's the amazing truth: isn't dependent on our circumstances. He has overcome the world, and as Romans 8:32 reminds us, if God gave us His own Son, we can trust Him to graciously give us all things.

God's perfect love also casts out fear! When we truly understand how deeply God loves us, we can face life's uncertainties with confidence, knowing that He is always with us.

So where do we find genuine love? By remembering and celebrating all that God has done for us and trusting in what He will continue to do. We can never repay God's incredible love, but we can let it overflow from our hearts and pour out into the lives of others.

🙏 PUTTING OUR FAITH INTO ACTION: SERVING OUR COMMUNITY! 🧹🍂

Faith isn't just something we talk about on Sundays. It's something we live out through and by !

The Men's Ministry at Sovereign Grace Church of Pasadena is excited to roll up our sleeves and serve our community at ARC (Activities, Recreation & Care) on Saturday, October 3!

We'll be helping get the ARC Center event-ready for its upcoming fundraiser, one of the organization's major annual events. From cleaning and touch-ups to decorating and organizing, there's plenty to do, and every helping hand makes a difference!

Why are we serving ARC?

For more than 55 years, ARC has been making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through programs that encourage independence, build life skills, foster friendships, and create opportunities for inclusion, ARC helps people live fuller, more connected lives.

We're grateful for the opportunity to support this incredible organization and help prepare for an event that raises funds for its important work.

As Christians, we're called not only to hear God's Word, but to put it into practice. Serving others is one way we can demonstrate the and make a tangible difference in the community around us.

Everyone is welcome! You don't have to be part of our or even attend our church to join us. Come spend a few hours serving, working alongside others, and making a difference!

Whose voice are you listening to?

Every single day, countless voices compete for our attention. Some are loud and obvious; others are subtle and quiet. But just as financial attempt to steal your hard-earned money, there are spiritual forces actively seeking to your heart and mind.

In last Sunday’s sermon on 1 John 4:1–6, Pastor Tim reminded us that we are engaged in an ancient for what we believe. The stakes could not be higher, which is why the Apostle John commands us to "test the spirits.”

So how do we exercise and guard against deception? We look for two clear marks:

1. Do they joyfully confess ? True teachers and faithful voices do more than just say the name of Jesus. Their lives and teaching demonstrate joyful submission to Him as Lord, exalting Him as God come in the flesh to save us from our sin.

2. Do they listen to the Apostles? aligns with the apostolic witness preserved in Scripture. Those who belong to God humbly submit to His Word, while the world resists it.

Left to our own strength, we are weak. But here is the good news: He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. The gives us the discernment and strength to reject the enemy's lies and rest in the truth of Jesus Christ.

Take some time this week to reflect:

What voices are shaping my daily thoughts and deepest beliefs?

Does the content I consume point me toward joyful submission to Jesus, or toward self-worship?

Am I anchoring my mind in the truth of God’s Word?

🌱 MEN’S MINISTRY SERVICE PROJECT THIS SATURDAY! 🌱

This Saturday, September 19, the men of Sovereign Grace Church of Pasadena are rolling up their sleeves and !

From 10 AM to 2 PM, we’ll be at ARC’s garden, helping the garden and get it ready for the Fall. Come join us for a morning of , fellowship, and an opportunity to serve others together!

Why ARC?
For more than 55 years, ARC has supported individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout greater Los Angeles, helping people build independence, develop friendships and skills, and live lives filled with dignity, compassion, and inclusion.

The ARC garden is more than a garden. It is a therapeutic and skill-building space where participants learn about gardening, nutrition, sustainability and teamwork while developing confidence, independence, and a greater sense of purpose. 🌿

We’re excited to be able to serve this incredible organization and help prepare the garden for another season of growth.
