Last Sunday, PJTC hosted a panel discussion on current immigration enforcement and how we might respond to the perils of current immigrants from a Jewish perspective.

Quoting Leviticus 19:33-34, one of the 36 times Jews are commanded to love their neighbors, PJTC's Rabbi Josh Ratner said "We are obligated to care for the ger ("stranger," "migrant," "resident alien") in our society.; we are commanded to not subvert their rights; to give to them; to rejoice with them; to acknowledge their feelings and hear them out; to befriend them, and to love them." He also encouraged attendees to consider " are we living up to our biblical mandate to care for, nurture, and even love the stranger who resides among us? Are we forgetting or being attentive to our history of marginalized migration?"

Senator Sasha Rene Perez delivered the keynote address.
