I abhor that I have to send this out, but please be aware scam emails are being sent, purportedly from me, that I’m sure will lead to some sort of “ask” for financial support. I am posting the email below. If you receive this, DO NOT RESPOND. This is not from me and the email address [email protected] does not exist.
Always, always, always, verify personally with me or a member of the staff if you receive an email that sounds suspicious. And remember these two rules: (1) I will never ask for money or any financial support via email, and (2) I do not sign emails to church members or friends using “Rev. Dr. Christopher Schmidt.” If you ever see those two things know it’s a scam.
I hate that this happens, and hate even more that anyone might be taken advantage of. When you receive anything that looks suspicious, trust your gut. This is not the first time this has happened, and sadly, I’m sure it won’t be the last.
Blessings,
Chris

Dear Jane Doe,
As we look ahead to the upcoming celebration of Parrish United Methodist Church, a time when we rejoice in the hope and victory found in the resurrection of our Lord, I'm making preparations for a small expression of appreciation for our faithful staff and volunteers who serve so diligently in the life of the church.
I would be grateful for your quiet assistance with this effort. Additional details regarding the process will be shared in due course. At this time I am unavailable for calls, so when convenient, please reply to this email to let me know if you may be available to assist.
As the Scriptures remind us, “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said” (Matthew 28:6).
Thank you for your continued leadership and faithful service to the ministry of Parrish United Methodist Church. May the hope of the risen Christ encourage and strengthen you in the days ahead.
Grace and Peace,
Rev. Dr. Christopher Schmidt
