Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. On this day, we honor the heart of Jesus and His abounding love for humanity.

The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart was added to the Church’s calendar in 1856 but has earlier roots following the visions of Jesus from Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque. Through her revelations about Jesus’ sacred heart, Sr. Margaret Mary encouraged a Thursday Holy Hour, First Friday Communion and the celebration of today’s feast.

“Learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart” (Mt 11:29).

Today is the Feast of the beautiful heart of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. And what a glorious gift that in time for this great feast day, and through the generosity of a parishioner, we now have a Sacred Heart statue of our own. May the image of his burning heart of love for us be the comfort amidst our trials and the fuel to drive our mission. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on me. Thank you for loving me so much. ❤️‍🔥

Today is the feast day of St. Barnabas.

Barnabas was a leader of the early Church and ministered to Christians in Jerusalem. He was also close to St. Paul and assisted him in his mission work.

Together, Paul and Barnabas evangelized, with much success, the Gentiles. Despite their efforts, not all took kindly to their message, and they were chased out of various cities.

Barnabas was martyred in his hometown of Cyprus where he is now their patron.

St. Barnabas, pray for us!

Oh the burning heart of Jesus! Oh that burning heart of God in particular love demonstrated through his choosing of the Israelites as his own. Through his choosing of 12 Apostles to model that burning love... so that ALL know they are called, chosen, loved, and sent to make the world His own. On this feast day weekend of our patron saint, St. Anthony of Padua (June 13th), we proclaim our thanksgiving for the ways he lived his calling of mission and love of God. We love you St. Anthony! Pray for us!

“I don’t want a symbol, I want the real thing.” This is the Body and Blood of Christ. This is the realest of all things. Happy Feast of Corpus Christi ❤️‍🔥
