Life changes. Priorities shift. Are you beginning to sense that God may be inviting you to grow in a new direction?

St. Francis knew that experience well. His conversion unfolded over time as he began to see his life, his faith and his purpose differently.

This October, step away for a weekend and reflect on where God may be leading you now. Fr. Bernie Owens, SJ presents Following St. Francis of Assisi into the Heart of Jesus and Abba Father from October 2–4.

Overnight accommodations and commuter registration options are available, making it easier to choose the option that works best for your schedule.

The second half of life brings different questions.

What have I learned? What still gives me life? Where has God been present through it all? And what might He be inviting me into next?

This fall, JRC introduces a new Manresa Experience created for people navigating midlife and life’s “Second Chapter.”

The first one-day retreat, led by Joseph and Lauren Cummins, invites you to look back on your life through the eyes of grace, noticing the people, experiences, gifts, and even challenges that have shaped who you are today.

Come spend a day reflecting on where you’ve been and begin looking toward what comes next with greater gratitude, faith, and purpose.

As a young man, St. Francis of Assisi dreamed of status and adventure. But war, illness and unexpected encounters began to change him. Over time, Francis came to understand that God was calling him in a different direction, toward Jesus, compassion, simplicity and the Gospel.

Many of us know what it feels like to question the path we're on.

Where might God be asking you to see your own life differently?

This October, Fr. Bernie Owens, SJ will explore Francis’ profound conversion and what his journey might reveal about our own.

October 2–4 at Jesuit Retreat Center.

What changes when we begin to see creation as something sacred?

We notice more. We slow down. We become more grateful for the ordinary gifts around us.

St. Francis of Assisi lived with a deep reverence for the natural world, seeing creation as a reflection of God’s goodness. His example invites us to pay closer attention to the beauty around us and to the presence of God within it.

Explore the life of St. Francis this October with Fr. Bernie Owens, SJ at JRC. Learn more about this weekend retreat and register on our website:

St. Francis saw the natural world as a gift from God and a reminder that we are part of something larger than ourselves.

As summer begins to wind down, the grounds at JRC invite us to slow down, notice what is around us, and give thanks.

This October, join Fr. Bernie Owens, SJ for a special weekend exploring the life and spirituality of St. Francis and the wisdom his example still offers us 800 years after his death.

Learn more and register today: https://www.jesuitretreatcenter.org/calendar/2026/10/02/following-st-francis-of-assisi-into-the-heart-of-jesus-and-abba-father

During the retreat, a series of talks will explore St. Francis’ conversion, his love for Jesus, his reverence for creation, his friendship with St. Clare, and his commitment to peace and nonviolence. They will also look at the Franciscan way of living with simplicity, trust, surrender, and a deeper awareness of God in everyday life.
