Today is the feast day of St. Teresa of Calcutta, also known as Mother Teresa.
⁣
Teresa was born in 1910 and at that age of 18, left home to join the Sisters of Loreto in Ireland. She took the name Teresa after St. Therese of Lisieux and professed her final vows in 1937.
⁣
In 1946, she found her “call within a call.” She experienced visions and an interior call to “radiate Jesus’ love on souls” and “be His light” revealing to her his pain for the neglected poor. His love for them became her own.

Her legacy started with the establishment the Missionaries of Charity and the beginnings of her work in Calcutta. She worked with many other religious groups, formed various organizations, and influenced movements. She gained worldwide recognition for her work and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.

Mother Teresa died September 5 and was canonized by Pope Franics in 2016. She is the patron of World Youth Day, Missionaries of Charity and a co-patron of the Archdiocese of Calcutta.

The Second Reading for the Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time is from Romans 13:8-10. “Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.... Love does no evil to the neighbor; hence, love is the fulfillment of the law.” Let us love one another, especially when it is difficult!

Adoration Under the Stars - a first-time event at St. John Bosco, hosted by the Spiritual Development Committee. Here's some tips to get ready for this special outdoor service. Join us for prayer, adoration and worship music outdoors in the meadow behind the gym on the Big Creek Parkway side of the property. All are welcome - please invite friends and family…and please bring your own chairs (as we will have limited chairs available) Get ready for a night of peace with Jesus among the beauty of nature, away from the noise and distractions of daily life.
