Mark 15, the entire chapter
Mark 16: 1-6

Our Savior had a painful path to the cross.
He was mocked
Whipped
Spit on
His beard plucked
He was beat on
He had the crown of thorns shoved on His Head

After all that He had to walk with the wooden cross on His back

When He gets to Calvarys Hill He is nailed to the cross. Where He hangs in Pain and agony for hours.

Look at verse 34 of chapter 15 again.
My God, My God why hast thou forsaken me?

He’s asking His Father, God in Heaven why He has forsaken Him.

The answer to that is you and Me!

John 3:16 says For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Jesus Father loved us so much that he let his only son, the spotless lamb, to be crucified on Calvary, so we could be saved from our many, many sins.

If Jesus was asking the Father why He had forsaken Him, what do you think He thinks of us.

Is He saying your name asking why you have forsaken Him?

Why have you abandoned Him?

Why have you deserted Him?

Why have you neglected Him?

Why have you left Him?

Why have you deserted the assembling at church with fellow believers?

Why have you abandoned serving and worshiping?

Why have you neglected your Bible reading and prayer life?

Why have you left the Savior way down here
and put everything else, everybody else above Him?

Jesus gave His life for us

What have we given Him?

We can’t even give him a couple hours of church a week.

I’ve got good news for you today.
God is a God of 2nd chances.
He is a God of 3rd and 4th chances.

You can pick up right where you left him.

He’s a forgiving God.
He’s a gracious God.
He’s a merciful God.
He’s a loving God.
He’s a saving God.

If you don’t know God or dont have a personal relationship with God today is the day of Salvation.

All you have to do is ask Him for forgiveness of your sins and to come live in you.

Look at Mark 16:1-6

The one that they beat on and crucified, the king of the Jews, the King of kings, isn’t in the grave.
He’s up there with the Father!

He’s up in glory. If you are His that’s where you will be one day!

Up there walking that street of gold!
Sitting at the table for that Heavenly feast.
Looking at the creator.
Seeing the one that she’d his precious blood .

Living in a mansion. With no pain, no sorrow, no more tears.

Up there, there isn’t anymore parting.

We will live forever more.

Hallelujah!!!

Luke 22

63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.
64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?
65 And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.
66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,
67 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.
69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.
71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

Luke 23

And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.
2 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
3 And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.
5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.
6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.
7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
9 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
18 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)
20 Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
21 But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.
22 And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.
24 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, This Is The King Of The Jews.
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

2nd Chronicles 34:14-18 KJV

14 And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the Lord, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the Lord given by Moses.

15 And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.

16 And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do it.

17 And they have gathered together the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.

18 Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

Stay with me for a minute let me give some background.
In the last few chapters before chapter 34 there had been a few different kings. Hezekiah was a good king. His reign brought revival to the kingdom of Judah. The bible says Hezekiah done right, was good, and trustful before God.
Hezekiah sought the Lord with all His heart.
As a result he prospered. Hezekiah passed away and now his 12 year old son Manasseh began his reign. He done evil in the sight of the Lord. After his passing Amon at the age of 22 became king. Following in his father’s footsteps he was evil like his dad had been. Now we come to chapter 34 Amon was killed by his servants so his 8 year old son Josiah is now king.

King Josiah has them repairing the house of the Lord. They’re busy in there remodeling. Carpenters, builders, masons, stone workers. Hilkiah, the priest, comes across this book.

Imagine it with me . He sees this book laying over there in the rubble. He picks it up, dusts it off, opens it up, and begins to read the words.

When he began to read he realizes it’s not just an ordinary ole book. This is the word of God. The book had been neglected
-ignored
-misplaced
- and finally lost

Its influence had not been felt for years.
Hilkiah took that book to Shaphan the scribe. He just simply said “I found this book of the law in the house of God.” Shaphan took it to the kings palace and Josiah. Hilkiah the priest, brought me this book he found. “ He began to to read it to king Josiah.

Josiah went into overdrive after the book of the law was found for the rest of his reign.
Hilkiah said “I have found the book in the house of God.” What does that mean?

That means the Bible was lost in the house of God.

It wasn’t lost in the bar on the corner
Wasnt lost in the strip club
Wasnt lost in the crackhouse
The word of God was lost in the house

Can you imagine the Bible being lost in the house of God?

I know that there are places in the world where copies of the Bible are scarce, few and far between, but here in America we’ve got copies in every bedroom.
- copies in the living room
-in the car
- and everywhere else

We’ve got copies on the shelves in our libraries
We’ve got copies stowed away
We’ve got old Bibles that are wore out and new Bible we haven’t opened yet.

We’ve got physical copies of the Bible here, there, and everywhere.

We even have apps on our phones that we can read the Bible on.

The Bible isn’t lost in the sense it was in Josiah’s day. But it is lost today. Sadly it’s lost its influence .
The Bible has lost its influence in schools all across America.
The Bible has lost its influence in the Whitehouse and in our government.
The Bible has lost its influence in churches all across America.

We are supposed to be taking this precious book, the living word, of God and teach the truths of it.

The word of God still builds people. It still changes lives and roots out sin.

Is the book lost in your church, lost in your home?

Find it, dust it off, get in it, read those scriptures, live by the word of God!
