What a great time with the MOV Chamber of Commerce for Session 2 of the MOV School of Leadership 2026; Creative Leadership: Integrating Instinct and Data
This session pushed us right into the tension most leaders feel but don’t always name:
Do we follow the data… or trust our instincts?
We explored what it really means to be:
• Data Driven
• Data Responsive
• Data Informed
…and why data is essential—but not sufficient for great leadership.
The energy in the room really came alive as we worked through real-world scenarios:
• Hiring the “perfect-on-paper” candidate vs. the one who just feels right
• Choosing between market demand and mission alignment
• Wrestling with whether to end something that still feels meaningful
We discussed:
Data relies on hard skills—metrics, analysis, outcomes
But leadership also requires soft skills—listening, empathy, vision, curiosity
One of the strongest takeaways from the day:
Great leaders don’t choose between data and intuition—
they develop the ability to use both.

Last month we had an incredible weekend investing in leaders with the team at First Baptist Church of Hamilton Ohio—and it’s always energizing to see what happens when leaders lean in to personal development and discernment of who God wants them to be.

Friday night, we spent time with staff digging into the foundations of functional leadership—where we unpacked the Renew MOVE model of of leadership.

Then on Saturday, we gathered with church leaders to introduce our Refocus for Impact process, helping them begin a vision discernment journey centered on one powerful question:
Who do we need to become to seize the opportunities God will bring us and avoid the obstacles that could derail our mission?

What made this weekend special wasn’t just the content—it was the openness, the honesty, and the willingness of the church to step into their next chapter of ministry.
