At Downtown Bethel we believe that everyone has within them God-given gifts, talents and dreams. Our desire is to Encourage, Empower and Equip individuals in order to see their dreams become realities, their talents utilized, and their gifts displayed. The purpose of the five-fold ministry is to build up, or equip, the saints for the work of ministry. For this reason, our highest value will be upo
n models of ministry that are reproducible in public. This will serve the saints well in ministry in the public arena. Knowing that all we have is because of His grace, we will release ministry through prophecy, laying on of hands, teaching and training. We believe in the ministry of healing. Not only do we believe in the ministry of healing but we also want to empower every believer to walk in the healing anointing. We teach and train for healing ministry. We believe in deliverance ministry through SOZO. It is the Greek word translated “saved, healed, and delivered.” SOZO contains the whole package of being made whole or well. Salvation--
"That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God
raised Him from the dead you shall be saved [sozo]" (Romans 10:9). For the Son of Man came to seek and to save [sozo] what was lost"
(Luke 19:10). Healing--
"But Jesus turning and seeing her said, “Daughter, take courage, your faith has made
you well [sozo], and at once the woman was made well [sozo]"
(Matthew 9:22). Deliverance--
"And those who had seen it reported to them how the man who was demon-possessed had
been made well [sozo]" (Luke 8:36). We teach and train for deliverance ministry. We believe in the ministry of prophecy. The heartbeat of prophetic ministry is anchored in 1 Corinthians 14 – “Pursue love and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy” and it is our mission to see men and women walk in the prophetic. The purpose of prophecy is to build up, to admonish, and to
encourage the people of God. Anything, that is not directed to this end is not true prophecy. This basic purpose of true prophecy is stated in 1 Corinthians 14:3: KJV: "He that prophesieth speaketh unto men
edification, and exhortation, and comfort." NIV: But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening,
encouragement and comfort. Amplified Bible: But [on the other hand], the one who
prophesies [who interprets the divine will and purpose in inspired preaching and
teaching] speaks to men for their upbuilding and constructive spiritual progress
and encouragement and consolation. We teach and train prophetic ministry.
