First UMC Park Ridge Sunday Morning Worship at 9:30 am. Sunday school. Nursery services available. All are welcome! Children's Sunday School at 9:45am during sanctuary worship.

At First UMC Park Ridge, “welcoming all” means that we see all persons as created in the image of God and bearing sacred worth and dignity. We invite all persons to participate fully in the life of our church regardless of age, race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical or mental condition, marital status, family situation, economic standing, or citizenship status. We are a Reconciling congregation, and a member church of the Reconciling Ministries Network of Methodist churches. We offer Christian education programs for children, youth and adults. Our Sunday schedule includes Worship at 9:30 am for all ages in the Sanctuary. Nursery/childcare is available for infants and families in need.

Walking for Peace: Praying with Our Feet

Route: St. Luke's Lutheran Church to First UMC, then to Park Ridge Community Church and back to St. Luke's

Three Park Ridge congregations are walking together this fall to call for peace in the wake of so much violence around the world. Walkers will gather at St. Luke's Lutheran Church and walk to First UMC and then Park Ridge Community Church before returning to St. Luke's, pausing for a brief devotion as they arrive at each church. Candles and signs will be provided to everyone on arrival. The group will sing simple a ca****la songs and quiet chants along the way. This is an apolitical gathering, so we ask that no partisan signs be displayed; a calm, peaceful spirit will define the hour. People of any faith, or none, are welcome to walk with the group.

On Sunday, October 18, eight walkers from First UMC joined neighbors from across Niles and Park Ridge for the 35th annual CROP Hunger Walk, a three-mile route that started and finished at Park Ridge Community Church. Our church's gifts total $2,375 so far, counting online and check donations, which puts us well past our goal of $1,500. Online gifts are still open through October 31 at bit.ly/46wzi9M. Thank you to everyone who supported this year's walk, whether you walked with us, made a donation or dined at one of the restaurant fundraisers. Thank you also to Ed Hansen for organizing our team. Every gift supports Church World Service and the Maine Township Emergency Food Pantry as they fight hunger both here at home and around the world.

Halloween Fun for All Ages

Thank you to everyone who came out for the All Ages Halloween Party on Friday, October 16! Costumes ranged from a little bat to an inflatable tube man, and kids made ghost handprint art, played balloon games and enjoyed plenty of treats. This Sunday, Pastor Scott continues our Leading with Love series with "Listening with Love" (1 Kings 19:9–13). We'll follow a worn-out Elijah into a mountain cave, where God passes by in a sound of sheer silence rather than in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire. It's also Ministry Team Appreciation Sunday, when we'll give thanks for everyone who serves on our ministry teams and present Bibles to our 3rd and 4th graders.

One week to go. The 35th annual Niles-Park Ridge CROP Hunger Walk steps off next Sunday, October 18, with room still open on the First UMC team.

Registration opens at 1:15 pm at Park Ridge Community Church, 100 Courtland Ave.; step-off is at 2:00 pm, and the three-mile route finishes by about 4:00 pm. Walking is free, so you can sign up ahead on our team page or register when you arrive.

Every dollar supports Church World Service and the Maine Township Emergency Food Pantry, which means the walk feeds neighbors here in Maine Township as well as families around the world.
