Temple Israel's upcoming Sisterhood events

Hi All,

One of the Sisterhood chairpersons at Temple Israel, Elaine Silverstein, wanted to make sure you saw their recent upcoming events so please see the message below from Elaine.

By the way, if your email address has changed, please let me know so we can update our email lists, including Temple Israel's email lists.

From,

Subject: General membership meeting April 26
Date: Mon, 28 Mar 2022 12:47:00 -0400
From: Elaine Silverstein

To: [email protected]

First of all, we would like to thank the many people who helped make this week's Sisterhood Shabbat such a great success. It was wonderful to come together once again! We are very grateful to the Torah readers, to everyone who took part, and to Susie Goldstein and Sue Hill for organizing the kiddush and desserts. And we are very, very grateful to everyone who came.
Now to turn to future events:

On Sunday, April 10, the Sisterhood Gift Shop will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Come browse our beautiful selection of Judaica and hostess gifts. And if you can, volunteer to help out for an hour or so. Email Stephanie Gottesman if you can help out that day.

On Tuesday, April 26, 7:30 p.m. at the synagogue,we will have a fun craft night combined with our annual General Membership meeting. Under Arlene Bernhardt's expert direction, we will create beautiful felted flowers. We'll also vote on the Sisterhood Board for 2022-2023. And we'll tell you about some exciting events we're planning for the summer.

TI's New COVID Policy

Dear Temple Israel Members and TBS Friends:

See the pdf sent to your emails.

Attached to this e-mail is Temple Israel’s new COVID policy and Q&As. The policy, unanimously adopted by the Board of Trustees at Wednesday evening’s Board meeting, will be implemented this Sunday morning, March 27. All prior COVID policies are repealed.

The policy calibrates our health and safety measures to the COVID-19 Community Level for Bergen County, New Jersey (the “CL”). The complete policy is in the attachment to this e-mail. In summary:

When the CL is low (green), masking is optional when inside the Temple, and vaccination/PCR proof is not required for eating or drinking inside the Temple. As of March 24, the CL is low (green).
When the CL is medium (yellow), masks must be worn when inside the Temple. When more than 25 people are expected at an oneg, kiddush, etc., you may eat and drink inside the Temple only if you show proof that you are fully vaccinated and up-to-date (boosted, if more than five months since you were completely vaxed), or if you have a negative PCR test.
When the CL is high (red), masks must be worn when inside the Temple. Regardless of expected headcount, you may eat and drink inside the Temple only if you show proof that you are fully vaccinated and up-to-date or have a negative PCR test.
This table might help orient you to the new policy, but it is only a summary:

Low CL
Medium CL
High CL
Masks
(for any indoor service,
activity, or program)
Optional
Required
Required
Vax/PCR test
(for indoor food and beverage)
Encouraged, but not required
Required for 25> persons
Required for any headcount

In recent weeks, members have expressed a desire to see relaxed COVID restrictions. An equal number have expressed a desire to remain vigilant. The new policy aims to balance both views, consistent with the Temple’s mission to connect us, as Jews, with one another and with our community. To that end, the policy brings the Temple in line with the broader community, which is moving toward a new normal, while still empowering us to respond to COVID developments guided by public health standards.

As a reminder, the policy will be implemented this Sunday morning, and the CL currently is low (green). Please contact me if you have any question, comments, or concerns at [email protected] or (917) 697-7715.
Good Shabbos,

James

Kiddush Club

As Kiddush resumes, so too does the Kiddush Club. What is the Kiddush Club? The Kiddush Club raises funds, shops for food and prepares the Kiddush foods in advance of Shabbat. Please consider sponsoring a Kiddush this year. For just $144 you can help sanctify Shabbat and build the bonds of the Jewish community. What a bargain!

To discuss available dates and menus, and to donate, simply email [email protected] or call Maureen Nassan at the temple office.

The Kiddush Club is also looking for volunteers to help shop and prepare.
