You Don’t Own Them — They’re Not the One Yet! 😳

Many believers fall into the trap of acting like a spouse before there’s a covenant. This creates jealousy, control, and soul ties that God never intended. Until there’s a covenant before God, you don’t own anyone and they don’t belong to you.

💍 1. Ownership Comes Through Covenant, Not Connection
Marriage is a covenant, not just a connection. The “one flesh” union is for husband and wife, not boyfriend and girlfriend.

⚖️ 2. Possessiveness Is a Sign of Fear and Control
If you’re trying to control, check, or monitor someone before marriage, that’s not love—it’s fear. True love protects, honors, and trusts.

💔 3. Dating Without Boundaries Creates Soul Ties
When you act married before you are, you create emotional and spiritual bonds that make it hard to let go—even when it’s not from God. Guard your heart until covenant.

🕎 4. Betrothal Was Covenant Preparation, Not Casual Dating
In biblical times, betrothal was a time of proving faithfulness before marriage—not ownership. They lived separately until the wedding day.

🕊️ 5. Modern “Girlfriend/Boyfriend” Labels Are Cultural, Not Biblical
Scripture never mentions “dating.” Relationships were meant for discerning marriage, not emotional ownership. Stop giving spousal benefits to someone still under observation.

🚫 6. Red Flags During the Waiting Process
If they flirt with others, lack spiritual consistency, or avoid accountability—believe what you see. Don’t marry potential, marry fruit.

💡 7. Trust God With Your Desire for Marriage
The right one won’t need to be controlled—they’ll choose you freely and be led by the same Spirit. When it’s from the Lord, peace will rule your heart, not fear.

Don’t rush into covenant out of fear of losing someone who was never yours. When love is built on Christ, it’s rooted in freedom, not control; in covenant, not possession.
