State Line Christian Church A community of people following Christ and serving in His cause. Services on Sunday at 10:30 EST. We believe that God’s salvation is available to everyone.

We Believe...
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. We believe in Jesus’ virgin birth, His sinless life, the miracles He performed and the lessons He taught. We believe what Romans 3:23 says in that “all men have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We believe Jesus was sent by God to bridge the gulf between man and God and provide a means of salvation for all. We

believe that Jesus was put to death on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, and that His physical resurrection was the ultimate victory over death. We believe that Jesus ascended into heaven and that He reigns forever at the right hand of God. We believe that Christians come to salvation by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ and baptism by immersion into His name.

Hebrews 11:29-30 commends the faith of the nation of Israel for their part in 2 miracles that took place: The crossing of the Red Sea and the walls of Jericho falling after the people marched around the city for 7 days.

While there certainly was some doubting, a lot of complaining, and heads that were being scratched, the people of Israel showed incredible faith by physically following God's direction, even though they were unsure and even doubting. It seems crazy to walk through the sea with walls of water on both sides of you. It seems crazy to walk around a city for a week, shout really loud, and expect the walls to just come crashing down. But these miracles made a lasting impact.

No nation went without knowing who the God of Israel was after these miracles took place. This wasn't for entertainment or for a good story to tell. It was for the sole purpose of Gods glory and Gods fame. Nations would cower and fear the LORD because of His great display of power, and because of the faith of an entire nation.

God will not be mocked. His power has been seen. His glory has been revealed. His truth has been declared.

Fear the LORD. Follow His ways. Turn from evil. Repent of your sins. Accept Gods free gift of grace and forgiveness of sins made possible only through the priceless precious blood of Jesus, the Christ. Amen.

This great work of deliverance is attributed to God and God alone. Literally, the passage refers to 'the mighty hand of the LORD,' (vs. 31) which powerfully acted on behalf of His people and broke the shackles of their slavery. The people clearly understood the might of God displayed in this act because they responded in awestruck fear. The great work of a great God propelled Israel into their subsequent journey toward the promised land.

Throughout history the strong arm of the LORD has worked on behalf of His people. He gave them victory and delivered them from the dire circumstances caused by their sinful rebellion (Psalm 89:13; 118:15-24), foreshadowing the climactic moment when God broke into human history through the person of Jesus the Christ. Jesus' perfect life, substitutionary death and victorious resurrection accomplish a far greater work of deliverance than the exodus from Egypt. Christ's work accomplished a great salvation for all His people (Hebrews 2:3). Like the nation of Israel responded, our proper response to the great work accomplished by this great God is awestruck worship.

As we continue our year-long series through Hebrews 11 we came to Moses on Sunday. Hebrews 11:27 says that Moses left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.

The language of verse 27 indicates that Moses kept looking at the invisible one, over and over again. His vision was set on the invisible God. The God of his forefathers. The God who promised great promises that were not forgotten, but were just in waiting for the right time. The God who would display His great and awesome power over and over again until Moses could lead a massive exodus out of Egypt and begin making their way to the Promised Land.

It is no accident that the author of Hebrews urges his readers over and over again to fix their thoughts and eyes on Jesus, the image of the invisible God. He is a leader worth following. So don't look away. Look to Him always. Follow His lead. Follow His calling.

On this day of mourning, we honor those who have served and fallen in America's armed forces, and pray that the great peace and comfort of God would fall upon those loved ones left behind.

The Passover celebrates God’s miraculous deliverance of His people from slavery in Egypt. The focal point of the ceremony was the sacrifice of a Passover lamb whose blood was placed on the door frames of the houses of the Israelites. While God enacted His final plague, the killing of the firstborn of the nation of Egypt, those living in homes marked by blood were spared death.

God provided clear specifications for the lamb that could be used at Passover — the lamb had to be a young male, without blemish or defect. In order to ensure its purity, the lamb was examined for four days following its selection. Those animals meeting God’s requirements were sacrificed in public, and none of the animal’s bones could be broken (Ex 12:46). The severity of the coming judgment required that the people of God observe this sacrifice with the utmost care. The annual commemoration of the Passover reminded the people both of the faithfulness of God to provide deliverance for His people and of their ongoing need for a substitute to pay the price their sin deserved.

The Passover sacrifice is one of the clearest pictures in the Old Testament of the coming work of Jesus. At the beginning of his earthly ministry, John the Baptist called Jesus “the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (Jn 1:29). His life met the requirements for a Passover sacrifice. He too was a young male, perfect in all ways. He would die a heinous, public death, though none of his bones were broken in the process (Jn 19:36). Because of Jesus’ death, those covered by His blood are spared the coming judgment (Ro 5:9; Eph 2:13).

New Testament authors refer to Jesus’ work using the imagery of the Passover because of the exact way in which Jesus fulfills the divinely orchestrated image of the Passover lamb (1Pe 1:19). Paul calls Jesus the Passover lamb who was sacrificed for His church (1Co 5:7). His perfect purity and substitutionary death uniquely qualified Him to play this role. As the one and only Son of God, He could do what no animal could ever do — He could permanently satisfy the wrath of God on behalf of His people.

Yesterday Ben gave us a powerful message on Gods timing. Going through his own personal story, as well as the story of Joseph and the faith that he is commended for in Hebrews 11, Ben left us with a powerful insight: When God asks you to wait, He's giving you a gift.

Waiting for God to fulfill His will is not a punishment. It's not God being inactive. As He works everything out according to His perfect will, sometimes we're left in a season where God does many things. He gives us time to grow in patience. He gives us chances to grow in our trust of Him. He gives us time to play in and enjoy His creation. He gives us chances grow ourselves...and help others grow as well.

Nothing good that we see in Scripture that happens to Joseph is due to his work ethic. It's simply through him being faithful in serving God and being ready when the wait is over.
