Things in our lives can become weights that slow us down when they pull our attention off of Jesus and the race we’re called to run.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭1

Some burdens we pick up on our own and never think to set down.

What are you carrying today that God never asked you to carry?

Ever been so tired you wanted to quit? Not the dramatic kind. Just done.

Sunday we talked about all the stuff we've picked up along the way. Some of it isn't even bad. A lot of it simply isn't ours to carry. Hebrews 12 says to strip off every weight that slows us down and run with endurance the race God has set before us.

When we're weary, trying harder won't fix it. Keeping our eyes on Jesus will, the One who starts our faith and finishes it. And when we're tempted to give up, we can think about what He went through for us.

Parents, this one's for you too. Our kids are watching how we run.

What's one thing you've been carrying that you think God never asked you to pick up?

How do we run the race set before us with endurance? We keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

When you consider giving up, consider Jesus.
