Southside Baptist Church had its beginning when Calvary Baptist Church and Seventh Street Baptist Church joined together to form one fellowship on October 7, 1990. Southside is a Southern Baptist Church and cooperates with the Southern Baptist Convention of Texas. What Started as two missions of First Baptist has turned into a strong church of its own. A church that has an amazing family. A church that welcomes everyone with open arms. A church that believes in one thing, Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Let’s be honest—it’s easy to think our faith stays at church, but the way we handle our hard work and our wallets actually shows exactly who is running our home. This Sunday at Southside, we’re opening up God’s financial blueprint to see how managing our money can bring lasting peace to our families.

Jesus raised the stakes of Solomon’s wisdom to an eternal level when He said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” (Matthew 12:34).
The truth is, we don't actually have a tongue problem; we have a heart problem. The tongue is just the bucket that dips down into the well of the soul. If the well is filled with pride, bitterness, or carnal anger, that's exactly what will spill out when life squeezes us.
You can't fix your tongue with a New Year's resolution or an anger management class. You need a new heart.
This Sunday morning at Southside, we aren't just looking at a checklist for better talking points. We are coming to the Great Physician for a total heart transformation. Don't miss it.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." We’ve all heard it, and we all know it’s a lie. You can break a bone and it heals in months, but a crooked, cutting tongue can fracture a human spirit for a lifetime.
But God offers a beautiful alternative in Proverbs 15:4: “A wholesome tongue is a tree of life.” In the original Hebrew, that word "wholesome" literally means healing, medicine, and deliverance.
Your tongue can be an ambulance, not a wrecking ball. It can bring a cure into the room.
If you’re tired of the shouting matches, the toxic social media commentary, and the constant underlying tension at home, join us this Sunday morning at Southside. Let’s learn how to turn our speech into a source of life. Join us at Southside at 10:55AM this Sunday!

What happens when tension rises, the schedule collides, or a teenager walks in with an attitude? In Proverbs 15:1, God gives us a mechanical blueprint for communication: “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.”
Think of a heavy-duty shock absorber on a rough Texas gravel road. When it hits a pothole, it doesn’t hit back—it absorbs and diffuses the violence of the jolt to keep the truck stable.
A godly husband or a patient mother acts as the spiritual shock absorber of the home. This Sunday, we’re unpacking how a gentle answer can force conflict to retreat and keep your family on the road to peace.
Bring the whole family. We’ll see you at Southside!

Ever notice how a casual comment thrown across the living room can stay with someone for a lifetime? Words don't vanish when they leave our lips—they accumulate. They build the very atmosphere our families breathe every single day.
King Solomon made a radical statement in Proverbs 18:21: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Your words are either a weapon of ex*****on or a hand of healing.
This Sunday at Southside, we are looking at the ultimate steering wheel of the home in Part 5 of our family series: The Tongue: The Power of Life and Death.
Are your words building a sanctuary or a slaughterhouse inside your four walls? It's time to find out.
