Calvary Christian Church

Calvary Christian Church “Non-Denominational” New Testament Christian Church We have no denominational status, no hierarchy, no headquarters and no official voice.

Simply put, we are Christians only — the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ, not including Disciples of Christ Churches, are autonomous churches that have fellowship with one another as a part of a "brotherhood." We are the segment of the Restoration Movement, which was started in this area with the Revival at Cane Ridge. Where the Bible speaks, we speak. Where the Bible is silent, we are silent.

There were several wind damage reports and power outages reported across central KY with the storms last night. Thankfully, I haven't seen any reports of tornado damage yet. The good news is that the entire state got a really good soaking rainfall!! The Kentucky Mesonet map this morning shows this well.

Today will be mostly dry. Clouds will slowly break up some by afternoon. Another southern branch system (that I started talking about last week) will quickly move in tonight and bring more rain and thunderstorms to Kentucky during the overnight period. There is a Slight Risk (level 2/5) of severe storms across southwest KY, roughly from Bowling Green to Paducah. For most of us, however, we'll just benefit from more rain that we really need.

Then, a drying trend will take us into the weekend of the

Romans 6-8 is Paul's rebuttal against false applications of the gospel message he has been preaching. Believers cannot continue in sin because Jesus' death released them from sin's dominion. Believers are united with Christ in His death (Romans 6:3-11), which frees them from slavery to sin, death, and the law (6:11; 7:1-6; 8:1-2, Galatians 2:19). They also receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; Romans 5:5). Since God has freed believers from sin's mastery, they are to see themselves instead as God's servant (6:12-23). This is crucial because a conflict rages in every believer (7:21-23).
The Holy Spirit lives inside of believers (Romans 8:9-11), and His will stands in opposition to the will of sin (8:5-7; Galatians 5:16-17). There is no neutral ground: One either sides with the Holy Spirit and follows His orders, or one submits again to sin's desires. Those sinful desires lead only to death (Romans 8:6a; Galatians 5:19-21). But the Spirit guides believers to “life and peace” (Romans 8:6b), and God will raise them from the dead just like Jesus (8:10-11).
While the mind can recognize sin and delight in God’s law (Romans 7:22-25), the flesh is unruly, tempted by the sins of the world (7:14, 23). Its desires are oriented toward the things that God disdains, and one cannot please God while submitting to the flesh (8:7-8). But believers are empowered to resist the flesh's desires. Amen.
