Daily Devotion — June 1
Scripture: “He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” Mark 4:39
Reflection:
The disciples were terrified as a violent storm shook their boat. Waves crashed around them while Jesus slept nearby. In fear, they woke Him, believing they were about to perish. With only a few words, Jesus calmed the storm completely.
Life often brings storms we do not expect:
* uncertainty about the future,
* family struggles,
* financial pressure,
* emotional battles,
* moments of fear and exhaustion.
During those seasons, it can feel as though God is silent or distant. Yet the story reminds us that even when the disciples could not see His plan, Jesus was still with them in the boat.
The presence of storms does not mean the absence of God.
Jesus has authority over every circumstance, every fear, and every challenge. Sometimes He calms the storm around us, and sometimes He calms the anxiety within us while the storm continues. Either way, His peace is greater than our panic.
Today, remember that the same Savior who spoke peace over the sea is able to speak peace into your heart.
Prayer:
Lord, when fear and uncertainty surround me, help me trust that You are near. Speak peace over my anxious thoughts and strengthen my faith during difficult seasons. Remind me that You are greater than every storm I face. Amen.
Challenge:
Whenever stress or worry rises today, pause for a moment and quietly say, “Jesus, You are with me.” Then choose one practical action that reflects trust instead of fear.
