Daily Devotion--June 2

READ Scripture: Gospel of Mark 2:1–12

Reflection:
Jesus was teaching inside a crowded house when four men arrived carrying their paralyzed friend. They could not get through the crowd, but they refused to give up. Instead of walking away, they climbed onto the roof, made an opening, and lowered their friend directly in front of Jesus.

What an incredible picture of faith.

These men were determined because they believed Jesus could change their friend’s life. Their faith was active, persistent, and willing to overcome obstacles. When Jesus saw them, He responded with compassion, forgiveness, and healing.

Sometimes life feels crowded with obstacles — fear, stress, disappointment, unanswered prayers, or uncertainty. It can feel easier to quit than to keep trusting God. But this story reminds us that faith keeps moving forward even when the path is difficult.

Jesus also reminds us that our greatest need is spiritual restoration. Before healing the man physically, He forgave his sins. Christ cares deeply about both our hearts and our hardships.

Today, remember:

* Faith does not quit at the first obstacle.
* Jesus sees the effort behind your trust.
* God can work through the people who carry others in love and prayer.

Prayer:
Father, give me determined faith like the friends in Mark 2. Help me trust You when obstacles appear and strengthen me to encourage others. Teach me to bring people closer to You through my words and actions today. Amen.

Challenge

Reach out to someone who may feel discouraged or forgotten. Pray for them, encourage them with Scripture, or offer practical help. Be someone who helps carry others closer to Jesus today.

Daily Devotion — June 1

Scripture: “He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” Mark 4:39

Reflection:
The disciples were terrified as a violent storm shook their boat. Waves crashed around them while Jesus slept nearby. In fear, they woke Him, believing they were about to perish. With only a few words, Jesus calmed the storm completely.

Life often brings storms we do not expect:

* uncertainty about the future,
* family struggles,
* financial pressure,
* emotional battles,
* moments of fear and exhaustion.

During those seasons, it can feel as though God is silent or distant. Yet the story reminds us that even when the disciples could not see His plan, Jesus was still with them in the boat.

The presence of storms does not mean the absence of God.

Jesus has authority over every circumstance, every fear, and every challenge. Sometimes He calms the storm around us, and sometimes He calms the anxiety within us while the storm continues. Either way, His peace is greater than our panic.

Today, remember that the same Savior who spoke peace over the sea is able to speak peace into your heart.

Prayer:
Lord, when fear and uncertainty surround me, help me trust that You are near. Speak peace over my anxious thoughts and strengthen my faith during difficult seasons. Remind me that You are greater than every storm I face. Amen.

Challenge:
Whenever stress or worry rises today, pause for a moment and quietly say, “Jesus, You are with me.” Then choose one practical action that reflects trust instead of fear.

Daily Devotion — May 31

Scripture: “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27

Reflection:
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples after they questioned how anyone could truly be saved. Human strength, wisdom, and effort have limits — but God’s power does not.

There are moments in life when situations feel impossible:

* a broken relationship that seems beyond repair,
* a burden too heavy to carry,
* a dream that feels out of reach,
* a challenge with no visible solution.

In those moments, Jesus reminds us not to measure possibilities only by human ability. God can open doors no one expected, provide strength beyond our own, and create hope where discouragement once lived.

This does not mean life will always unfold the way we want, but it does mean that God is never limited by circumstances. Faith grows when we stop focusing only on obstacles and begin trusting the One who is greater than them.

Sometimes God changes the situation. Sometimes He changes us within the situation. Either way, His power is at work.

Today, bring your “impossible” to God with honesty and faith.

Prayer:
Lord, when I feel overwhelmed by situations beyond my control, help me remember that nothing is impossible for You. Strengthen my faith, renew my hope, and guide me according to Your perfect will. Amen.

Challenge:
Identify one situation you have viewed as hopeless or impossible. Instead of worrying about it today, intentionally pray over it each time it comes to mind. Then take one small step of faith or obedience related to that situation.

Daily Devotion — May 30

Scripture: “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” Luke 18:1

Reflection:
In this passage from the Gospel of Luke, Jesus shares the story of the persistent widow — a woman who kept coming back, refusing to stop seeking justice. Her persistence became the very reason her request was answered.

Jesus uses this story to teach an important truth: faith does not quit when life becomes difficult. Prayer is not only for moments when everything feels hopeful; it is especially powerful in seasons of delay, uncertainty, and struggle.

There may be areas in your life where you feel tired:

* waiting for direction,
* praying for healing,
* hoping for restoration,
* asking God for provision or peace.

Jesus encourages you today: do not give up.

Persistence in prayer shapes the heart. Even before circumstances change, God is working within you — building endurance, trust, humility, and deeper dependence on Him.

Sometimes the breakthrough comes quietly. Sometimes it comes unexpectedly. But faithful prayer keeps your heart connected to the One who sees beyond what you can see.

Prayer:
Lord, strengthen my heart to keep praying and trusting You. When I feel discouraged or impatient, remind me that You are faithful and always listening. Help me remain steadfast and full of hope. Amen.

Challenge:
Spend 10 uninterrupted minutes in prayer today without rushing. Write down one prayer request and one thing you are grateful for, then revisit it at the end of the day and reflect on how God guided your thoughts and attitude.

Daily Devotion & Challenge — May 29

Scripture: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:13–14

Reflection:
Paul’s final encouragement to the Corinthian church is both strong and compassionate. God calls believers to stay alert spiritually, remain grounded in faith, and live courageously in a world that often pressures people to compromise.

Strength in God is not harshness or pride. Real spiritual strength is paired with love. Courage without love becomes arrogance, but courage guided by love reflects the heart of Christ.

There may be situations today where you need wisdom, patience, or boldness. God does not ask you to face those moments alone. He gives strength through His presence and direction through His Word.

No matter what challenges come today, stand firm in faith and let love shape every response.

Prayer:
Lord, help me stay strong in faith and gentle in love. Give me courage to do what is right and wisdom to respond with grace. Let my actions reflect Your character today. Amen.

Today’s Challenge--Practice both courage and love today:

* Speak truth kindly in a difficult conversation
* Encourage someone who feels discouraged
* Choose patience instead of reacting quickly
* Take one faithful step in an area where fear has held you back

Be strong today — and let everything you do be done in love.
