FUMC has had a long history with and supporting the 100 Families Program, a much needed and very effective community organization. With their "hand-up" approach, 100 Families assist families in crisis to help keep them intact and to overcome their hardships. FUMC was invited to join their "Care Portal" project and our Outreach Committee has committed to this new program. The "Care Portal" consists of 5 local churches with teams of 4 to 6 people who will assist these families in crisis. The needs will vary but could include families in the midst of domestic violence, families who need food or clothing, emergency transportation, furniture including beds, utility assistance and more. There are at least two teams within each church. The "Resource Responders" who actually gather the items that are requested and the "Relationship Responder" who will not only deliver the items, they will actually love on these families and provide emotional support. Remember, these families are in crisis and need the love of Jesus through His hands and feet followers.

How does this work? 100 Families meet the families and discern the needs. They will send out the list of needs to all the churches through the Care Portal. We are required to fulfil one "need" per month. Hopefully, we can do more than that. If we elect to fulfil the need, we will send 100 Families an acceptance response. Then our teams are put into action of gathering and delivering.

We are looking for team members to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Don't think the "Relationship Responders" team just need able bodied people (which of course we do) but we also need outgoing, loving people to build community with our neighbors as the heavy lifters are actually delivering the items. And volunteers can actually serve on both teams, but do not have to.

Kandi Tarpley has generously volunteered to be the team leader. Won't you join us with this great project?

Contact Pastor Sarah, Kandi Tarpley (870-565-2495) or Robin Patten for further information.

WE ARE FULL SPEED AHEAD WITH ALL THINGS SUMMER! BEGINNING WITH VBS! Snowball Mountain Challenge (JUNE 7-10) invites kids to an exciting winter sports event where they become Challengers, gearing up for frosty games, snowy surprises, and hands-on lessons about resilience and faith. They will come to realize that with the strength God provides, they can share their gifts, be brave, give their all, pray, and hope. Your kids will be guided daily by the energetic & lovable Ollie the Arctic Seal, who is reporting on the events. Challengers aren’t just playing games. Using their Challenge Companion (the Bible), they learn to draw strength from their faith through powerful stories, while connecting the learnings to Bible Stories and Lift Lessons. Snowball Mountain Challenge VBS teaching kids that “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13, NRSV). As children face their challenges and discover their strength in God, you’ll hear them say, “Challenge accepted – with God I am strong.” Pastor Sarah kicks off our VBS theme this Sunday in worship by preaching on the story of Esther. Esther will teach us and VBS participants what it means to be brave!
