A Prayer for Our Nation and the Nations
Heavenly Father, we come before You today with heavy hearts and sober minds as our nation steps into a time of conflict. You are the Sovereign Lord over every nation, every leader, and every battlefield. Nothing happens outside of Your knowledge or authority.
Lord, we lift up the United States and Israel to You. Grant wisdom, clarity, and restraint to our leaders and military commanders. In rooms where decisions are made that affect millions, may Your Spirit guide their thoughts. Protect them from pride, haste, and unnecessary harm. Let justice and righteousness lead the way.
Father, we pray for our service men and women who are being deployed into harm’s way. You know each name, each face, each family represented. Be their shield and their strong tower. Protect them physically, mentally, and spiritually. Surround them with Your hand of protection. Give them courage without cruelty, strength without hardness, and resolve without losing compassion.
We pray especially for the families who will remain at home; the spouses, children, parents, and loved ones who will carry the weight of worry. Be their peace in the waiting. Guard their hearts from fear. Provide for every need while their loved ones are away.
Lord, we do not forget the innocent people in Iran and throughout the region who may be caught in the middle of this conflict. You are the God of all flesh. We ask for mercy. Protect civilians. Comfort the grieving. Bring peace where destruction threatens to spread.
God of Peace, even in the midst of war, we ask that You would work behind the scenes to accomplish what only You can. To bring resolution, to open doors for diplomacy, and to shorten the days of this conflict. Let this not become a prolonged season of bloodshed.
We confess that our ultimate hope is not in government power, military strength, or strategy. Our hope is in You. You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Let Your Church rise in this hour; not in fear, not in division, but in prayer, unity, and faith. Teach us to be peacemakers. Teach us to trust You fully.
We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
