NEEDED: Beth Ami Temple Administrator

Interest Call: 602-956-0805

Job Description

Beth Ami Temple is a congregation directed toward serving active and involved adults' spiritual and social needs. We consider and treat our members, visitors to our events, and those interested in learning about Beth Ami Temple, as family. While we affiliate with the Reform movement, we welcome individuals and families of all denominations.

We are seeking an off-site, part-time administrator; an individual to be our ambassador who will embrace and reflect Beth Ami Temple’s culture of service and community during all interactions with our membership, potential members, and vendors. Through every mode of communication, the administrator is the face of Beth Ami Temple and should value and champion our philosophy of service and inclusion.

The administrator has two primary functions; ongoing telephonic, digital, and printed communications and support for the Jewish High Holidays.

I. Communication:
Verbal Communication: The administrator’s most critical function is answering our telephone and speaking with our membership and potential members. The administrator will respond in a timely manner to all inquiries with a genial and attentive manner and forward the call, if needed, to the appropriate Beth Ami member in a reasonable timeframe for resolution. Additionally, the administrator will find participants for the services as directed to the Rabbi, support other fundraising efforts, arrange the Seder with the people other than the temple, arrange the Raps with the Rabbi for off-site experiences.

Electronic Communication: The Beth Ami family is quite active; conducting several meetings and social groups throughout the month. The administrator will be responsible for distribution of notices, such as, but not exclusively, Shabbat services, special holiday services, monthly social events (book club, dinner club, strolling/hiking group, and others) messages from the Rabbi, monthly bulletin, board meetings, etc., via email to members.

Printed Communication: There are a few occasions that Beth Ami sends printed mailings to our membership. They include our annual membership drive, year-end appeal, and annual pledge. The administrator will prepare appropriate aspects, such as labels, envelopes, etc., and ensure that each envelope contains all necessary materials for mailings through the USPS.

II. Jewish High Holidays:
The administrator plays a key role leading up to the High Holidays in the fall and during the Holidays. This is the busiest season for Beth Ami as we receive numerous calls from members and non-members alike regarding High Holiday services. Additionally, we print and distribute High Holiday tickets and attend to other preparations that are unique to the High Holidays.

III. Other Duties as Assigned

Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for creating and responding to correspondence, and interacting with members of the Beth Ami Temple congregation and clergy, and the public
Strong organizational skills, such as time management, record-keeping, and general administration
Working knowledge of website maintenance or willingness to learn
