For the Friend to Friend event on Saturday— Today, February 20th:

In order to keep the attention of children, we will be changing what we are doing in the event every 2 or 3 minutes. Here is the event outline. (40–45 minutes total)

Sing-along Song: I Am a Child of God (All languages)
Animated Video: Jesus Loves Me and Taught About Prayer
Activity: Draw a child praying (paper and writing utensil needed)
Activity: Meet Raiarii from Tahiti
Sing-along Song: I Will Walk with Jesus (ASL, English, Spanish, Portuguese)
Animated Video: Jesus Was Baptized
Activity/Animated Video: A visit with Elder Ulisses Soares
Animated Video: I Want to Follow Jesus
Activity: Learn to make pictures out of rocks
Activity: A visit with a member of the Primary General Presidency
Video: A message for children from President Russell M. Nelson

All children ages 3–11, their parents, and Primary leaders and teachers are invited to participate in a Friend to Friend worldwide event for children.

The historic, first-of-its-kind event from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will include music and activities as well as messages by President Russell M. Nelson, Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and members of the Primary General Presidency.

“I am so excited for the children to experience this very special Friend to Friend event,” said Primary General President Joy D. Jones. “I hope they will feel valued, needed and loved by Jesus and Heavenly Father. This will be a memorable opportunity to feel connected to other children around the world as they learn and sing together about how they can help like Jesus.”

We saw the temple steeple yesterday on our way home from the park.
My son said “let’s check and see if the gate is open!”
I was almost positive the gate would be locked. I told him it wasn’t likely open. And he answered “but what if it is?”
And it was.
Landscapers were there, and so the grounds were open.
Christ said “Behold your little ones.”
And when they did, the Heavens opened.
He didn’t tell them to look at the sky. He told them to look at their children. Isn’t that powerful?
Because, I believe when we behold children we can see the same.
We can see Heaven in their relentless optimism,
in how hopefully they wait.
how quickly they forgive.
how slowly they judge.
how confident they are in their worth.
how joyful they are in the simple things.
how resiliently they meet trials.
how fully they love.
Sister Stevens said, “If we have a heart to learn and a willingness to follow the example of children, their divine attributes can hold a key to unlocking our own spiritual growth.”
Behold your children—
and wait for Heaven (and temple gates 😉) to open.

One of our greatest desires is to ensure the safety of children and those who lead and teach them. We pray for you and the children in your wards and branches.

Since we have been unable to gather in Primary for many months, we recognize that you may not be able to hold a children’s sacrament meeting presentation this year. We will all miss the spiritual uplift of being taught by the children, but we know that our Heavenly Father will watch over and bless them as we follow local safety guidelines and practice social distancing.

Instead of holding the presentation in sacrament meeting, you might invite families to have a home-centered presentation. Older children could also present what they have learned in a Primary activity held via technology. Such presentations could focus on what children have learned this year from the scriptures, music, and Come, Follow Me.

As Primary leaders, please counsel together and in ward councils to help families in these challenging times, paying particular attention to those who most need your care and support.
