The Water Jars workbooks are here.

Pick one up this morning and get a head start before the series begins next Sunday, August 23. A short daily reading, Scripture, and a few questions — enough to carry with you through the week.

Water Jars
A Three-Week Study on Building the Household of God
Begins Sunday, August 23 | 7:30, 9 & 11:15 am

At a wedding in Cana, Mary turned to the stewards and said, “Do whatever he tells you.” Then Jesus told them to fill the water jars — and the water became wine. This August, we take up those same jars.

Over three Sundays we’ll ask what it means to live not as guests in God’s house, but as members of the household: how the Spirit gives us gifts, how Wisdom builds her house, and how each of us is called to pitch in.

A companion workbook goes with the series — a short daily reading, Scripture, and questions for reflection. Copies available Sunday, August 16 if you’d like a head start, and again August 23 when the series begins.

Prefer it in your inbox? Sign up for the daily Water Jars email — one reflection each day for all three weeks — at good-samaritan.org/workbook (link in bio).

Please note that there will be no air conditioning in the Church this Sunday, August 9.

We have been working on a project replacing the HVAC system in the Church. Unfortunately, the crew was unable to complete it in time for Sunday services. Air conditioning will be restored by next week

We apologize greatly and encourage everyone to dress comfortably in shorts and short sleeves tomorrow. Fans will be distributed throughout the Church and we welcome personal hand-held fans.

You are also welcome to join us online for worship. Check your email for this week’s wrapper and leaflets and visit us at youtube.com/Church of the Good Samaritan/streams for the 9 am and 11:15 am livestreams.

Even with the July heat, over 50 men came out for our Men’s Ministry Picnic. Between the creek, the pool, great food, and even better conversation, it was an evening well spent. Special thanks to Andy for his generous hospitality!

A few weeks ago we had eight Good Samaritans serving at CityTeam’s Hope Cafe in Chester County. Longtime volunteers, Jeanne and Marty had this to say about the program:

“One of our favorite ways to volunteer is serving a meal at Hope Cafe. Hope Cafe is a special setting two Saturdays a month and instead of the typical soup kitchen meal, we serve and wait on the guests and bring the meal to them at their tables like a restaurant. We don’t cook the food but we had a great team doing these jobs—Waiter, Food Runner, Kitchen Food Server, Salad/Soup/Dessert Prep, Hostess, Table Setter, Dish/Pan Washer.”

If you are interested in serving with CityTeam, please reach out to [email protected].
