What does it mean that we are a Reformed church in Panama City?
To be Reformed means we joyfully believe that God is sovereign over all things, and that all of Scripture is true. We believe that grace is amazing, Jesus is sufficient, and that salvation belongs to the Lord from beginning to end. We also believe the Bible is God’s Holy infallible Word. It’s trustworthy in all that it teaches, sufficient for our faith, life, and practice. We believe in the “Solas” of the reformation. That sinners are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone!
We also love covenant theology, which is just a fancy way of saying we believe that God has always related to His people through His gracious covenant promises. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells one unified story of God's redeeming work in Christ. Covenant theology helps us see the beauty and unity of Scripture and reminds us that God is faithful from generation to generation. That means we also love babies! We welcome and invite children of all ages in our worship services.
As a PCA (Presbyterian Church in America) congregation, we are also a confessional church. That means we gladly stand upon the historic Christian faith, summarized so beautifully in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.
We believe in the Triune God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, that He lived the righteous life we failed to live, died the death we deserved to die, rose again in victory, and is coming again in glory.
We believe the church is a family, and not a club. It’s a hospital for sinners. We believe worship should be reverent and joyful. We believe God uses ordinary means such as the preaching of the Word, prayer, baptism, and the Lord’s Supper to strengthen His people and call sinners to repentance.
And at the heart of it all we believe that Jesus Christ saves sinners!
So whether you've been in church your whole life, or are not even sure what you believe, we welcome you to come and worship with us.
We promise that every single Sunday you'll hear the gospel proclaimed from the pulpit. Not self-help or a pep talk with a Bible verse sprinkled on top. The good news of Jesus Christ: crucified, risen, reigning, and coming again!
We gather for worship every Sunday at 10:25 at our rebuilt downtown sanctuary. We would be glad to see you.
