Life following Jesus looks a lot like this picture.
If you’ve ever tried getting a group of junior high and high school students together for a photo, you know it rarely goes as planned. Someone’s laughing, someone’s distracted, someone’s out of place… good job, Tanner. 😄
But when I look at this picture, I don’t see imperfection. I see purpose. I see stories. I see the value Jesus has placed on every single life here.
Just like this picture isn’t perfect, none of us in it are either. Every one of us has fallen short and been separated from a perfect and holy God. But the good news of the gospel is this: Jesus is perfect. Through Him, what was broken is redeemed, what was sinful is forgiven, and what was once separated is made new, good, and holy because of His grace.
Life doesn’t always turn out the way we expect. Plans change. Seasons end. But following Jesus has shown us something better. He is always faithful. Our lives have purpose, and our story has never been about us. It has always been about Him.
It would be foolish to think this was ever about anyone other than Jesus.
My prayer for each of you is that you keep seeking Him and keep trusting Him. Be obedient, even when it’s difficult. Be obedient even when it means leaving something comfortable. Be obedient even when it costs you something. Following Jesus is worth it, because what He offers is far greater than anything this world could ever give. Jesus is greater.
Please pray for our family, that our eyes stay fixed on the One who matters most and that we continue to walk in faithfulness and obedience wherever He leads.
This is not the end.
Keep seeking Jesus.
Keep trusting Him.
Keep following Him.
We love you guys more than you know. It has been one of the greatest honors of our lives to walk alongside you.
I just want to preach the gospel, finish faithfully, and be forgotten.
There is only one hero, and His name is Jesus.
