Sunday was the Second Sunday after Pentecost. The Church now marks this season with green paraments, which symbolize growth, and flourishing, like grass and plants do in the summer. Here the Church grows and is sustained by the Lord's teachings and His sacraments.

This long church season goes all the way to Advent which begins a new church year. I have always liked the ship on the lectern parament. It corresponds to the Church, as we are brought into the boat like the disciples catching their fish and bringing them into their boat. Christ brings us into His holy Church by the waters of baptism.

Here are some pictures of Holy Trinity Sunday. We confirmed Rebecca and Robert after two years of catechesis. It was a joy to see them confess the Faith and partake of the Lord's true body and blood for the first time. This is the life of the Church - to make disciples by baptizing and catechizing. I have a glad heart that I get to be a part of all that.

Today is the Feast of The Holy Trinity and the Church confesses the Athanasian Creed. It is the best content I have ever encountered on pondering the mystery of the Holy Trinity. It is just wonderful. I am looking forward to confessing the Christian Faith today.

Sunday is the feast day of The Holy Trinity. And these two fine young people will be going through the rite of Confirmation. They have been baptized and now catechized in the Christian Faith. They have spent the last 2 years with me going through the Small Catechism and learning the doctrines of Christ and His Church.

As they have been catechized they are now ready to receive the Lord's Supper. They will confess the Faith with the Apostle's Creed and we will rejoice with them in their confession and that they will partake of Christ's body and blood in the Sacrament.

I care about all my catechumens over the years. I love getting to know them and seeing them grow in the Christian Faith. Last night I did an oral examination of the whole Catechism and these two really knew their stuff. Catechism is not just head knowledge of God, but I always want the kids to really take it to heart also. Faith is a gift given by the Holy Spirit in Holy Baptism. It is not just information, but it is to be lived and practiced and nourished throughout life. We never stop learning and growing in the things of God.

May the Lord richly bless all our church's catechumens and may they remain in the Faith all of their days.

Here are some pictures of the Divine Service from the Day of Pentecost.

Our member who is attends the seminary preached for us. We had a confirmation of a young man, and we had a reception for our two high school graduates. I was disappointed that I didn't get a picture of the two graduates. They are fine young men.

What a great day. 80 in attendance - 26 visitors! The people of God received His holy gifts and heaven and earth came together once again in the Eucharist. We extol the Lord for His mercy and compassion toward us!

Tomorrow is the Day of Pentecost. It is the day the church celebrates the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and them preaching the Gospel in many languages.

We have a big day tomorrow. Wes Clark, who is a member of our congregation is a student at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, will be guest preaching.

A young man will be going through the Rite of Confirmation to join our congregation. We will rejoice with him.

And we have a reception for our two high school graduates after the Divine Service.
I am looking forward to being in God's house tomorrow to extol the gifts of our Lord.

These two wonderful faithful ladies keep up with all the bulletin boards at our church. They have done it for years. Frankie and Sandra do such a good job at keeping up with church seasons, holy days, and special events, etc. They do it all without any thanks or fan fare. But they add to our church and we appreciate them for their faithful service.

Circuit 1 of the Texas District. Once a month the pastors of Circuit 1 get together to study, discuss, even argue a bit, and eat. We go all day. We start with a sermon study, eat at lunch time and then in the afternoon we discuss some topic concerning theology. It really is a good group. The parishes these men serve are in: Amarillo, Borger, Pampa, Canyon, Perryton, Dumas, Dalhart, Shamrock, and Hereford.

It is good for pastors to get together. It helps us to be encouraged and serve in the Office of the Holy Ministry. This is our group that met this last Tuesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran in Amarillo.

HYMN OF THE DAY
Seventh Sunday of Easter
May 17, 2026

"Christ Is the World’s Redeemer" (LSB 539)

1. Christ is the world’s Redeemer,
The lover of the pure,
The font of heav’nly wisdom,
Our trust and hope secure,
The armor of His soldiers,
The Lord of earth and sky,
Our health while we are living,
Our life when we shall die.

2. Christ has our host surrounded
With clouds of martyrs bright,
Who wave their palms in triumph
And fire us for the fight.
Then Christ the cross ascended
To save a world undone
And, suff’ring for the sinful,
Our full redemption won.

3. Down through the realm of darkness
He strode in victory,
And at the hour appointed
He rose triumphantly.
And now, to heav’n ascended,
He sits upon the throne
Whence He had ne’er departed,
His Father’s and His own.

4. Glory to God the Father,
The unbegotten One,
All honor be to Jesus,
His sole-begotten Son,
And to the Holy Spirit—
The perfect Trinity.
Let all the worlds give answer:
Amen! So let it be.
