How are we to fulfill the basic law of God to love our neighbor as ourselves? This week we will look at Romans 13:8-14 and Matthew 18:15-20 for guidance. The message is simple: “Love.” We will also be celebrating God’s love as demonstrated in the sacrament of Holy Communion.

“There’s Danger in Consulting Your Burning Bush!” You might think listening to God is an easy and safe thing to do, but often, if we take God’s word seriously, we will be asked to do something scary, or dangerous, or both. This week, we will read of Moses’ encounter with God at the burning bush (Exodus 3:1-15) and Jesus’ clear warnings of the cost of discipleship (Matthew 16:21-28). After you hear the warnings, you will need to decide for yourself.
We will also be reading from Romans 12:9-21.

August 16th: This Sunday, the Reverend Greg Meyers will bring the message of the morning. Greg is no stranger to Palmyra First. He is a frequent attender when he is not serving the people of another church as their pastor. This past June, he re-retired after having served 3 churches in the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church and is thus available to preach here at Palmyra First. His message will be, “One Whale of a Story,” and we’ll be reading from Jonah 1:1-10 and 3:1-5, 10.
