"For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus."
(Romans 6:10-11)

Heavenly Father,
You entrusted your Son Jesus, the child of Mary, to the care of Joseph, an earthly father. Bless all fathers as they care for their families. Give them strength and wisdom, tenderness, and patience; support them in the work You call them to do.
This Father's Day we remember the many sacrifices fathers make for their children and families, and the ways-both large and small--they lift children to achieve dreams thought beyond reach. Give all fathers the guidance they need to raise happy children, grounded in Your love.
We give thanks for all those who have helped fill the void when fathers pass early or are absent - grandfathers and uncles, brothers and cousins, teachers, pastors, and coaches.
We pray for those who are missing their fathers today. We give thanks that through Your Son, our Savior we will one be day be reunited in Your heavenly kingdom.
In Your Holy name, O God, we pray. Amen.

Abide with me, fast falls the eventide.
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

I need Thy presence ev'ry passing hour;
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's pow'r?
Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me.

Come not in terrors, as the King of kings,
But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings;
Tears for all woes, a heart for ev'ry plea.
Come, Friend of sinners, thus abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still if Thou abide with me!

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies.
Heav'n's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
