Here is a note from our Executive Presbyter Juan Sarmiento as he also is being evacuated:
Dear Friends of the Presbytery,
Our Presbytery staff seeks ways to respond to the disruption, displacement, and distress caused by the spread of fires in the Los Angeles area.
I have become aware that pastors Steve Wiebe, Ross Purdy, and several members of various congregations have been evacuated. La Cañada Presbyterian Church has also done that. Please pray for them and reply if you have additional information that may be relevant.
I have found the following link to be a source of valuable information about the affected areas and evacuation orders: https://www.fire.ca.gov/incidents/2025/. Please look under the Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, and Woodley listings in the 2025 incidents column.
In the meantime, let’s intercede before God for:
• Those who have lost homes or loved ones may find comfort and strength.
• Firefighters, emergency personnel, and volunteers working to protect others.
• Local leaders are making difficult decisions to ensure the safety of our communities.
• Our congregations and ministries are offering to those in need.
May we, as people of hope, express resilient love during this challenging time. If your congregation or ministry needs assistance or is offering support to those affected, don't hesitate to contact me at 818 554 6183 to coordinate our collective efforts better.
Thank you for your continued faithfulness and commitment to being Christ’s hands and feet in the world.
Sincerely,
Rev. Juan Sarmiento
Executive Presbyter
