God's Word was never meant to be glanced at and forgotten.

James compares Scripture to a mirror. It reveals who we really are—not to shame us, but to transform us. The question isn't whether you hear the Word. The question is: What happens after you hear it?

When the Bible exposes your pride, anger, impatience, or unbelief...
Do you remember what you saw?
Do you allow it to change the way you live?

When life feels like it's spinning out of control, God never is.

James calls us to find joy in the God who is at work through them. Every trial is an opportunity to trust Him, to grow in steadfastness, and to anchor our hope in Christ.

No matter what you're facing today, remember: God is faithful. He is using even your hardest moments to shape you into the likeness of His Son.

"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness." — James 1:2–3

Joy isn't pretending suffering is easy. It's knowing that God is faithfully working through it, preparing us for the glory to come.

When trials come, our first instinct is often to withdraw.

We convince ourselves we have to be strong enough on our own. We push people away because we don't want anyone to see our weakness. We resist depending on God, and we avoid depending on the community He has given us.

But that's not how God designed us to endure.

Strength isn't found in self-sufficiency; it's found in surrender to Christ and in walking alongside His people.

James 2:1-18
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away. For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

There is no corner of creation where Christ is not King.

In heaven, on earth, and under the earth, His dominion extends over all things. No power, no place, no realm exists outside His authority.

Jesus reigns now. 👑

To Him was given dominion, glory, and a kingdom. (Daniel 7:14)

Jesus isn't waiting to become King—He reigns now.

👑 His dominion is comprehensive and present. There is nowhere in heaven, on earth, or under the earth that falls outside His authority. Every corner of creation belongs to Christ, and we live under His gracious rule today.

✨ His glory is revealed as we magnify what is already true. Worship doesn't make Jesus more glorious; it helps us and the world see His infinite beauty, majesty, and authority more clearly.

🏛️ His kingdom is not only a future promise but a present reality. Through Christ, we have been made citizens of an everlasting kingdom. As His people, we gather around His throne and proclaim His reign until He comes again.

The ascended Christ rules over all things, receives all glory, and reigns over a kingdom that shall never be destroyed.

Reflection questions from this sermon:
What does dominion mean in the Hebrew Bible?
Who receives dominion in Daniel 7?
What is the nature of that dominion?
How is glory defined in the Hebrew Bible?
How do we glorify God?
What thrones (glories) and dominions come under the Kingdom of God?
How are we the Kingdom as we gather around the Lord’s Table?

Jesus has received dominion, glory, and a kingdom, it’s natural that we gather as his kingdom around his throne.DominionJesus is the true Adam, restoring the...
