Bloom in the Desert UCC

Bloom in the Desert UCC Sunday morning worship service and weekday office hours. “Bloom” is an Open and Affirming United Church of Christ. Denominational info is at www.ucc.org.

Bloom is the fully authorized local church in the United Church of Christ (UCC) in the Coachella Valley, with Palm Springs as our operational base. Our ministries have local, regional, national, and global reach. Sunday Worship gatherings are in Palm Springs and online via Facebook live. Our members are active in the Southern California Nevada Conference of the UCC (SCNCUCC) and our regional Easte

rn Association. Our founding roots and affiliations connect us with the Church Within A Church Movement and Reconciling Ministries Network in the Methodist tradition. As a result, we identify as an interdenominationally respecting, inclusive, progressive-Christian, traditional mainline, liberal protestant church. We began from scratch in 2002, as a “new start” church community of grace, mercy, and justice meeting for Sunday morning worship at 10:00 with coffee time following, at 3601 East Mesquite Avenue in Palm Springs, California. That's the Demuth Community Center building at the west end of Demuth Park; one block east of El Cielo Road, just over one mile west of Gene Autrey Trail. ***SAVE THE DATE!*** Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Demuth Community Center

During our 10 AM worship service, Bloom’s congregation will honor the Rev. Dr. Kevin A. Johnson, our founding pastor, and his husband Michael Shear for all they have given over the years to Bloom in the Desert UCC and our wider community. Dr. Johnson (AKA Rev Kev) will be honored with the title of Pastor Emeritus, and celebrated for the 50th anniversary of his ordination. A reception will follow the service. We look forward to welcoming them back! ❤️
