The beheading of Saint John the Baptist remains one of the first crimes committed in the name of false political correctness. Then, as now, impulses, frenzy, and perversions hid behind principles presented as objective and unyielding. The wickedness of Herod Antipas, the ambition of Herodias, and the weakness of Herod formed a deadly combination that led to the elimination of the one who spoke the truth.
John was an "angel in the flesh," a contemporary of Christ, filled with holiness and purity, not with Pharisaical moralism. His firmness came from the truth he lived and proclaimed, from justice that rejects wrongdoing, from a life fragrance that dispels the stench of hypocrisy always present among people.
It only takes a few weaknesses combined to remove someone who, like a mirror, reflects who you truly are. In front of a mirror, we like to admire, embellish, and stage our image. But when the mirror shows us the reality we do not want to see, our instinct is to break it. This was John the Baptist’s fate: he was the mirror that could not be tolerated. Silent and observing, he was simply unbearable to those who live in lies and comfort themselves in them.
His message remains relevant today and calls us to the most significant inner transformation: Repent! To repent is to change within, to live truthfully and rationally, to set aside prejudices and confusions that blind us and keep us prisoners. It is a call to leave the "cave of shadows" and encounter the light of true reality, to become friends with the Meaning of life, with the Reason that calls us and does not leave anything to chance.
Truth cannot be silenced without leaving marks in history and human consciousness. John died, but his voice still cries out today: “Repent!” Therefore, the exhortation of this feast remains the same: Let our hearts, and our heads, stay high!

Taierea capului Sfantului Ioan Botezatorul ramane una dintre primele crime savarsite in numele unei false corectitudini politice.
