This afternoon at 2pm, Rabbi Karen Tashman will join with other officials at the Palm Coast VFW for the annual Four Chaplain Memorial Service. They will honor four military chaplains who died rescuing civilian and military personnel as the American troop ship SS Dorchester sank on February 3, 1943. The chaplains helped soldiers board lifeboats and gave up their own life jackets when the supply ran out. They joined arms, said prayers, and sang hymns as they went down with the ship. Among those brave chaplains was Rabbi (Army Lt) Alexander Goode, whom Rabbi Karen represents at this service. If you wish to attend, the address is VFW Post 8696, 47 Old Kings Rd North, Palm Coast.
