Good Morning fellow Bible students and welcome to our Adult Sunday School lesson for May 31, 2026, We are Bunny and Jim McLellan your fellow Bible Students and Guides from The Northlake Blvd. Church of the Nazarene in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Today we will be studying the book of Jude, which has only one chapter. We will be looking at verses 3 through 8 and 17 through25. The, titled of this lesson is” Contending for the Faith”
The rather long subtitle is “God has given us the responsibility of contending for the faith”. From this lesson we would like to see each of us to commit or recommit to
a closer walk with God through prayer, Bible study, and a life of holiness. Some Christian groups do not accept Jude as part of scripture because Jude sites and quotes some older manuscripts not included in the widely accepted Biblical cannon. Somes of these documents such as the Testament of Moses and first Enoch were highly regarded by the early church so Jude and his readers would probably familiar with the quotes.
You may ask who this fellow named Jude was. His name in Hebrew would have been Judah, in Greek Judas, But most English bibles uses Jude so there would not be any confusion with Judas Iscariot. He is listed among the half-brothers of Jesus along with James, Joseph, and Simon. Jude identified himself as a brother of James instead of the brother of Jesus.
