Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worth of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8 (NRSV). So much good in this verse and those who strive to achieve these things will be great blessings to all who find them. When we live in the way this verse calls for, we will be close to being the very people God has created us to be.

So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. Tor this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NRSV). Yes, while we are in this world, we will have troubles but looking to that which is unseen and trusting Jesus to bring forth the promised blessings for all who believe in Him.

For if we willfully persist in sin after having received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has violated the law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by those who have spurned the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant by which they were sanctified, and outraged the Spirit of grace? Hebrews 10:26-29 (NRSV). This is a matter of eternal concern. It is not going to go well for those who have rejected Jesus.

Beware of practicing your piety before others in order to be seen by them; for then you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Matthew 6:1 (NRSV). Do we have a problem with this verse? Please read the verse again and then practice, practice, practice humility and share in private so your reward will be sure and certain.

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that is taking place among you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you are sharing Christ's sufferings, so that you may also be glad and shout for joy when his glory is revealed." 1 Peter 4:12-13 (NRSV). It isn't always easy to rejoice when things are bad for us, but these verses call us to understand that in our troubles, we are able to endure like Jesus did for us. We will understand things in the "sweet by and by."

The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. As was the man of dust, so are those who are of the dust; and as is the man of heaven, so are those who are of heaven. Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we will also bear the image of the man of heaven." 1 Corinthians 15:47-49 (NRSV). These verses carry a blessed truth to all who know Jesus as Savior and live with Jesus as Lord of life. He has given us these words of promise and remember, He has never lied.

Jesus answered, I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name testify to me; but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheep. My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will sn**ch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than all else, and no one can sn**ch it out of the Father's hand. The Father and I are one." John 10:25-30 (NRSV). This is the truth of how Jesus deals with us. Nothing can take us out of His hand. He loves us and wants us to trust Him because His word is truth. Do you hear Him calling you?

And now, my children, listen to me; happy are those who keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. Happy is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors. For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord; but those who miss me injure themselves; all who hate me love death." Proverbs 8:32-36 (NRSV). While the text of Proverbs 8 talks about wisdom, it may indeed be referring to Jesus. The chapter is only 32 verses long, please read it and see if you can perceive that it is indeed talking about Jesus.

From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view, we know him no longer in that way. So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! 2 Corinthians 5:16-17 (NRSV). How much better will our lives be if we can realize the truth of these 2 verses? That will be a wonderfully blessed time for us.
